If i ever get to build something traditional i wouldn't mind running a slant six in it, old dead reliable motors. have potential if you work with them.

Yes, it does seem like there is something extra versus other 6 cylinders of that era I've driven. The 3rd carb is supposedly progressive at 40 miles per hour but I feel like it could be at a lower mph. Hard to tell while I'm driving :D

    Yep, quite right.
I've got an old Chevy screw-on "dust cap" (or "grease cap", if you prefer) at my Mom's house. Found it at the junkyard.
...just remembered something else, "Hub Centers" are actually OTR talk for the automatic bearing oilers you see on those trucks.
Sorry, its been a while and sometimes the I get the terminology mixed up in my head.

    ChevyGirlRox,

    ...INDEED!
Thanks for posting the pics from the Autorama.
Really nice work on the display, as well.
    Top notch, all the way.

    Oh man, that's absolutely I-N-S-A-N-E! :D

That car alone is worth the trip to Chehalis!

...I think that's the first time, or one of the very few anyway, that I've seen anyone actually use one of those Weber intakes, but I thought the Clifford Weber Triple was a side-draught affair?
Did you modifiy it, or did it come that way?

Not really a "Hot Rod" but the 235 Six Banger in my ol' 1954 3100 still runs pretty good!

There was a guy in Seattle who has (had?) a green Firebird Sprint convertable.
Nice car with a very good balance of power and handling, escpecially if you were lucky enough to run the 230-hp 250 with 4-speed and 3.50 gears.
We don't see nearly enough of those cars anymore. Please, post some pics when you get'er done.

Not a hot rod but I got the original flathead 6 in my 53 chrysler, and the semiautomatic tranny to go with it. Hadn't run in 13 years but I got it to fire up and filled the neighborhood with smoke. Took it for a small ride, seems to run well.

    Got a 54' F100 with a 223-6 and a Ford-o-matic
    Got a 55' F100 with a 223-6 with overdrive, 3 on the tree
    Got a 61' Econoline 3-window with a 300-6, 3 on the tree.

Even when I take the ol' heap to a GG show, many people comment that it's nice to still see the six under the hood.

They ain't fast, but they get me where I wanna' go. :D

I'd love to see a BMW I6 in a rod. Not period correct but cool looking and they pull like a freight train.

nah, it came from clifford as-is. the linkage is pretty crude and needs updating. the motor was in a project truck i bought, parted it out and ended up with a free motor. . crazy bastard put 4500.00 into the motor forged pistons, balanced, line honed, big cam,screw-in studs and roller rockers, pretty much all he could think of to do. just finished tacking the ladder-bar cross-member. gonna blow it apart this week for final welding.

Maybe not a "real" hot rod but I have a flatty 6 in my '48. Bored out, milled down, once I get it broke in the dual Carter's and exhaust go on. It is dropped 3" in the front.

So you're looking for a stovebolt 6? A few years back I built a 53 Chevy pickup with a 235, mild cam, 3 speed, double single barrel carbs, Fenton Headers, Offenhauser intake. Ken

    WOW!
Some great lookin' rides showing up all of a sudden.
Thanks to all for sharing your wonderful projects with us.

...and to those who asked...yes, it does count and yes, its still a Hot Rod, even if its 6 powered (especially the way most of you guys are "improving" the motors!).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Li'l Timmy,

Thanks for relating the rest of that story (thus far).
I'm not surprised by the $$$ amount. The intake and carbs alone are pretty pricey.
Looks like that's going to be one heck of a rod, when you get done with it.
Thanks for sharing your project with us.
Please, show us the finished product when you get to that point.
