Flathead Throttle Linkage Suggestions

My 59A flathead has an Offenhauser regular dual manifold, Tardel 3" risers, and dual 97's. I'm using the stock 32 ford throttle arm that mounts to the firewall and connects to the stock spoon gas pedal. Right now I'm running an adjustable threaded rod on the passenger side from the throttle arm to the front carburetor, with the two carbs connected to each other by linkage on the driver's side. The set-up works okay, but because of the risers, the passenger side rod is at a pretty extreme angle from the firewall to the front carb. Any one with a high-rise intake -- how do you modify the linkage to the front carb to get the angle on the passenger side rod a little flatter? Thanks for any suggestions.

 

I had the same problem due to adapters. I removed the pedal assembly and cut the arm and welded a small extension into the arm. This is a before picture. The arm is tapered so I cut it down low at it's fattest.

 

Thanks for the photos. I'm not excited about modifying the stock pedal assembly since it's orginal 32. I suppose I can buy a repo part and modify that, but I was hoping someone had done something with modifying the linkage off the carburetor -- through the use of a bell crank or something else. I'm open to suggestions because I'm having trouble visualizing a set-up that doesn't involve modifying the pedal assembly.

 

I set up a 32 with the engine and pedal in stock position, but the intake is a hirise Weiand. Everything works fine.

@rchandler, did you find a solution for your linkage issue? I have the same problem but I don’t yet have a throttle arm in place. Looking for ideas and came across this thread.

To keep things flat I would have to go through the gas tank on my ‘29, which puts things way high up in the cab.
