  3. This little '32 roadster pickup was built by HAMBer Kirk Duquett at Woodieworks. Great workmanship.

That Kirk D. does cool stuff....everything I've seen from him is cool and DIFFERENT.
Anyone have pics of the RPU with the redline tires and straight-spokes he did?

Or is this the same one sans redlines?

Does anyone have pics of a 50's model truck cab used for roadster/modified?

Do short boxed RPU's count? I love mine!

  11. Kirk originally built the car for himself and changed the color, wheels and tires several times. It is the only '32 roadster pickup he has ever built. When I purchased it, he kept the wheels and tires in the original photos and I put painted K-H wires on it with wide whites.

Here is a couple of pictures of a '32 Chevy RPU that I had a few years ago. It was built by the late John Pickle of San Diego. It was a fun ride and sure turned heads. I sold it to a fellow in Maryland in the early 90's and haven't seen it since. I hope it is still on the road.

Crash, Before you plunge in to a project like that, go and get a tape measure and compare the sizes of a '50's truck cab and a real '28-'34 era RPU. They are completely different.

Rod & Custom had an article a few years ago on doing what you're suggesting, but the cab would have to be sliced & diced in 3 or 4 different directions to get the proportions to look right.

You may end up with a better project by getting a Model A cowl and building your own body out of sheet metal. If you ask some of these guys that own a RPU, you could get some basic dimensions and go to town wth it.

You could just cut the top off of a '50's cab and stick it on a frame to make a low buck cruiser, but it will probably look a lot rattier than most of the RPU's in this thread.

    Later, Kinky6

  19. That is bitchin'! Wheels, stance, chop, you nailed it. All I'd do is louver the aprons, and paint it. I love it. :D

  20. Saw this one last weekend at the Goodguys Costa Mesa show. Had a ton of detail work on the bed, and a small block Ford decked out with Cobra valve covers and finned oil pan. Very nicely finished RPU.
