I just bought this from the 2nd owner. It had been sitting in his garage for over 25 years. It was originally bought new by the county of Riverside. The second owner bought it from them in '64. I put points and plugs and fresh gas in it and the ol' 235 fired right up.

These are some of the ones that I have found in the last 6 months. I work construction and get to see a lot of areas that are not available to the public untill the jobs are done. I brought 2 of these home ,2 I know that are not for sale and havent inquired on the others. One last bit of Information, all these are in the city limits of Portland Oregon.

we want to see the cars you claim to have found......if you are writing a book..you shoud have pics..if not..it never happened..

  7. I was driving a limo in the late 90s, it was prom season, and my clients(3 teenage boys) had only a clue where there dates lived......anyway, they told me to take a right(which later I found out it should have been a left), and I drove back an older country road. Always lookin around for cars, I saw what I thought was a nova setting in a back yard...about that time the one boy said this is the wrong way turn around, so I did, and as I backed that long white limo into a side road I looked to my right and there was that nova...which turned out to be a 74 GTO, I knew it as soon as I saw the scoop...the next day I stopped by, asked about the car, and the owner made me a deal I could not refuse, Ive sold it twice and bought it back each time...shes not going anywhere now...

Found this one driving 65 MPH down I-81 in Virginia, took me a while to find it though....bought it for my son, he thought it would be a gas hog, so we sold it...

then there is this....not really a find, but still....I was dropping packages off at the post office one day, and the lady said, "hey you might know what this is...", I asked what she was talking about, she said she had seen this truck on a roll back and she knew it looked familiar, it went to the local salvage yard. She said it was used in a movie with Sylvester Stallone. I thought for a minute and couldnt place it.....that was until I saw it. So here it is
    [IMG]
it went thru some changes as it was used afterward for a TV series that flopped...if you havent figured it out, this is the truck from "Tango and Cash", it could have been purchased for $3500, but when scrap went up it got crushed, a real shame.......

Well, this is not a find in a barn story. But I did drag it out of Black berry bushes so deep it took me two day with an excavator to get back to it.
Its a 1964 c-10 Chevy pick-up. I didnt really know what I had till I got it out on a trailer on the way to the dump when I though what the hell.
I took it home spent about 4 hours on a presure washer and saw the dimond. I opened the doors and saw it only had 44,000 miles on it and a glove box with the sales slip in it dated june 12th 1964. the owner paid cash $2000.00.
What a find. I have always loved this body type. so I have put my share of time in it to bring it to live.
it kinda cool to drive knowing it been hiding for so many years. As I drive it down the road, I see the wind blowin through the ol' girls hair again.

I wonder if those people in America who keep saying they want to go to Cuba and buy an old car ever look at these threads? :D:D

  13. About 2 or 3 years ago, I got a lead from a friend about a 1933 5 Window Coupe that had been stored in a barn a few hours away from where I live. Called the woman's daughter and took a trip up to look at the car. Ended up buying it on site. Interesting story surrounding it.

The woman's husband bought these old Fords up to make race cars out of. He bought the car from the original owner back in the 1960s. When he got the car home, he realized it was too nice to cut up. Story goes he ended up selling it to a friend who did an amateur restoration on it. Jump ahead to 15 years ago, and the man ended up buying the car back from his friend. Apparently he and the wife used to drive it to town once or twice a week to go to dinner. Car was also taken extensively to cruise nights locally.

The husband ended up passing away about 5 years before I got it. The car was on blocks and everything underneath was covered in heavy grease. The car was very nicely preserved. I am getting around to making a 50s hot rod out of it. It'll be stock roof height and full fendered. Just have to make the time to get around to finishing it.

Not your typical barn find, this one was on a ranch in S.Colorado it had been parked for about 15 years, the dogs liked to sleep on the convertible top and rodents had found a new home in the interior, I pulled the interior out and replaced it, the wheel cylinders leaked so I redid the brakes, gave the motor a tune up. its a 327 4 speed #match

Two years ago, I was flippin through CraigsList when I saw a 63 Nova convertible for sale. It had been listed for about 4 days so I was sure it was gone, but emailed anyway. I ended up getting their phone number, called, and showed up before anyone else. The car had not been driven since 1979.

The lady that owned it told me that her father had bought it on a used car lot in 66-67, on the East Coast. He drove it for a couple of years then passed it down to her brothers and sisters for high school and college. Apparently, it developed cooling problems and was parked, last licensed in 1979. It had been parked in a garage in the Bay Area and she towed it to Reno in the early 80's when she moved to a new home. It then sat in her garage since 1984 or so, still not driven.

I bought it for $2,000 and had it running and driving in about 2 hrs. I had to replace the rotted bias ply tires and remove 4-5 dead mice, but the car is pretty clean and very original. Too bad it won't stay that way:)

This might be a long story so please bear with me. My dad graduated highschool in 1969 driving an onyx black 1956 chevy 210 2dr hardtop. He also had a blue/white 1956 210 2dr post that he drove in the mid/late sixties. He was drafted and sent overseas for a 20 months, and both cars sat at my grandparents farm until he returned. When he returned he continued to drive the cars into the early 70's. He married my mom in 73, and I was born in 76. But like most guys those old cars behind the garage were sold to pay for things that were needed when you have a little one. He sold the pair to the same guy for $400.00. He would tell me about those cars as I was growing up and how much he wished he hadn't gotten rid of them. I always wanted a tri-five chevy when I was growing up, but in the early 90s they were far out of my price range. I built chevelles, impalas, chargers, and other junk, but I always wanted a 55-57 chevy. Fast forward to 2002, I heard a rumor there was a 56 chevy behind a bodyshop in a little town about 20 miles down the road. I drove down there to see what he had. He was nice enough to let me tour his "yard". Well low and behold there sat an onyx black 56 2dr hardtop. It was sitting on the frame, wheels sunk in the dirt. Last licesned in 72. Well I called my dad up to tell him about my find, and describe the car. Nothing to crazy black car, half rotted in the ground. This is when things got interesting. I told him it had a hurst shifter and a big STP decal on the heater box on the passenger side. He said are you kidding. I said no, why. He said thats my old car. Then he told me to look under the hood and look at the fan blade, and valve covers and see if they were painted green and black. So I fought the hood open and sure a poop, they were. This was it! It was the car I had heard so much about. So I went back inside the body shop to ask how much for the rusty chevy out back. He says $500.00, I say sold. I wrote him a check, and called my buddy with a car trailer. While talking to the body shop guy I told him what the deal was with the car. It being my dads old car and such. He told me he had bought the car years and years ago and never gotten to it. He said the guy I bought it from had 2, this one and a blue/white 2dr post. I asked where this guy lived and he tells me about 10 miles north of here and gives me his name(Don). At this point my head is about to explode with excitement. What are the chances this guy still has the car....So we load up my hardtop and head for home. Once we get home we unload the car, and I make a call to Don to see if he happens to have the car still. He still does and its for sale. I make an appointment to see the car the next day. We drive over to the farm, and out behind the barn in the tall grass sits a blue/white 56 2dr post. Dad walks up to the car and smiles and says this is it. He says see that pool ball sized hole in the windshield, thats from a rock falling out of a gravel truck on the highway. Thats why I parked the car in the 1st place. I ask Don how much for the rusty chevy out back. He says well I payed your dad 200 bucks a piece for them, so I suppose I should get that back for it. I said sold, and wrote check #2. We loaded up that car, and headed for home. So I bought 2, 2dr 56 chevys in 2 days that were both my dads cars for $700.00. Now before anyone goes B.S. just remember these cars are rough, MN salt, being pushed around by tractors, mother nature having ravaged them for 40 years. Truth be told I would have payed pretty much anything to get my grubby little mits on these cars. I have the hardtop running and I tear around in it in the summer. The post car is pretty rough, but that car is going in the shop this summer. Hopefully I can get it put together enough so my old man can take it cruising sometime in the next couple of years. I hope you liked my story.
