Hi everyone, you might recognize this car, bought it from another HAMB member last month. He turned me onto you guys... now I'm screwed. I just read posts way too much at work and all night at home. I'm hooked. Bought a T5, 52 Flathead, spindles and backing plates already from other members. This on a car I promised my wife I would leave alone ... for once. Luckly for me, my wife is just as into it as I am. She has a 64 Fairlane Tbolt clone she runs on our local 1/8 mile drag strip for fun and wrenches her own car as well. As soon as she gets off her butt and learns to weld there will be no stopping her! Looking forward to all the advice as our build progresses this summer. Jeff (& Jenny too).
:hw: ... Are you talking about Irwindale ... Turns out my car hits redline 2nd gear there ... Me likey Irwindale ...
hi jeff, bring that '64 ford down to the 1/8th mile antique drags at barona, sunday april 19... it's a better track surface than irwindale, but higher elevation. i-5 south to hwy 78, then 42 miles due east, thru escondido. www.baronadrags.com heck, for that matter, bring the hot rod as well!
Yep, good old Irwindale... close by in case something happens! Sounds fun, but we will be at the Fords Forever Car Show in Buena Park that day. Not sure if we are going to take Jenny's Fairlane or just bum around for a couple hours.
the antique drags can get a bit crowded, but normal days like the summit series should allow for lots of passes, especially if you get there early. i think that it gets less traffic because it's kind of a hassle to get there... back roads and hills. that fords forever show should be fun... the antique drags will come around again in the fall, i think?? barona is a neat little track, you can camp out there overnight for some of the events.
