For all the jokes - thats really a cool car. Are you keeping the original motor, or are you going to fit a bigger four cylinder? A rotary might be fun. (Warning - Post contains no fish related puns!)
Oh I think you might be a little too "hard on " us younger guys. Oh **** here goes round 2 of the puns.
Holy mackerel, would it keel you guys to be serious? If I was Arnie, I'd give you all a stern talking to, and conch you upside the head, just to listen to you whale. Then give a big wave, as I cruised of into the sun set. Nice car by the way.
( James, it's the original 1147 for now, but with a bigger cam, re-worked head, webber side draft. When I get "moor" time ,I am going to "tackle" a twin cam 16 valve toyota, V.W. bus trans & hydrolic prop motors. QUOTE=James D;3739883]For all the jokes - thats really a cool car. I had to google it but the answer wasn´t hard to find. Hydraulic prop motors? Thats interesting. How much power do you think it´ll take to get her to plane? Think it´d be possible to get the wheels to retract somewhat?
ARNIE here is a post I did on an Amphicar from Hartland,WI. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210625&highlight=amphicar
With 4 tires protruding below the water line? Probably about 650-700 minimum. What was it they said about the amphibian cars when they were new??? "Handles like a boat on the road, and like a car in the water"
Well its always good to have a target to shoot for! Retractable wheels - its the way forward I tell you! Could it be done with airbags? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgv9nqo0kGs

I hope to gain 1 mph with the lighter body, smoother hull & extra H.P. I will smoke em at 8 mph!!
you guys are about as funny as a screen door on a submarine...a customized amphicar is out there on the ragged edge, pretty neat
this is a friend of mines flying car, boat car, porsche powered , air plane landing gear, used in a tv series. -- there is something fishy about this one also.
If Sea Alice really works well, i'm sure you'll have no problems finding a pretty little thing to perch on the hood.
