39 Standard found me. Like I needed another project.
Needs a clean frame, anyone in the east have a decent one?
What year frames fit ?I just did some work on a 36, and it looks the same.

Did I see that 39 on ebay a fey months back,, or was that just a very similar one I saw.... I know the one I saw was in Canada, it was red oxide... LOOKS the same... :D

Funny, I cant remember names for shit, but I remember old cars pretty good... (Unless I am wrong about that car, if thats the case I don't remember much of anything I guess ... :D

I have been working on my 39 for the past several months, I had to work with my doors A LOT to get the lines to where I HOPE they will look right.

I even had to "pie cut" the frame section in the rear of the drivers door in order to tighten the radius near the bottom of the door.

Is this a common issue? or is it because my car was beat to hell over gravel roads for 30 years?

The passenger side of the car had been badly wrecked a long time ago (repaired with LOTS of lead), I might have expected fit issues on this side, not to say that I didn't have to work to fit the passenger side because I did, but the drivers side was worse as far as fit goes.

Has anyone had these doors fit right without work?

Front fenders are attached to the cowl and running boards. There is one or two bolts throught the inner fender panels into the frame, behind the axle. The grille, fenders, inner panels and air dams that feed the air through the radiator all bolt together at the front. The yoke that attaches to the inner fender panels and sits on the front crossmember holds it all up. Unfortunately, if you have changed to a late OHV engine, or IFS, the yoke doesn't work because the crossmember is gone and/or the crank pulley hits the cross brace. Removing the brake makes the yoke too weak to hold the fenders up properly. We sell a fender support bracket that bolts to the frame rail and the inner fender that cures that problem.

Yes I believe it was on Ebay. The guy said he sold it on Ebay and when the buyer figured out where Prince Alberta Saskatchewan was he bailed on the deal. I got it for $2500.

  17. Those are some beautiful automobiles. I would love to graft the front end off of one of those years onto my 38 pickup. I saw a pic of that combo once and have wanted to replicate it ever since.

    You miss the point.

Resurrecting an identical post is far better use of bandwidth than creating one from new. And make no mistake, these are identical posts...

However, the length of this thread is precisely why I didn't close it and suggest the search/resurrection of previous posts...
