My dad did the same thing at Indy 1967. Guy he was racing threw an axle out at launch, he shorted his magneto. He had to push to a win. Do they even let you do that these days ? The 2nd shot is a great hole shot he pulled at who knows where.

  9. Great stuff! That pic of Willie suiting up is priceless.

  10. Joel, you ARE new here! Yer supposed to be a post whore and put each picture in its own post so's you can get past FNG status sooner! :D

(Before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I've know Joel for a while and I'm just giving him a hard time. Hopefully he'll start posting more shots of his dad's beautiful cars and tell the stories of the car's name.)

It is the same car, started out as Aubrey Hylton's car with a flathead, beat a bunch of hemis at the 55 Bakersfield "world championship" (before the March meet) Then Hylton put an Ardun it it, and later Ernie Hashim's blown Chrysler. Dean Lowe, I was there too, standing on the fire truck right next to Water's partner's wife when the thing blew, threw the hood way up in the air, but Tony got out all right...small world (and did you once hang out at the Powerine station in Pasadena...I think I remember your red roadster pickup...I had a yellow 30 roadster with fenders and a '56 Olds.)
