I have a 1929 Model A that has a Turbo Charged 2.3 Ford four cylinder. I just got it in the road and it's ablast to drive. Need to get some new tires and a 3.50-3.90 8" posi unit for the 66 mustang rearend to help the turbo out a little. The original T Bird drivetrain had 3.73 gears. I have about 18" of exhaust at the moment. Put new/old tires on it since original post now has wide white 15". It rides alot better and I can cruise at highway speeds.
Let me know what you think

Cool ride, you pulled off the unique hot rod. They all don't need a 350 sbc

  3. Cool. You gotta T5 behind it?

  4. im not a big 4 or turbo fan although i do own 3 of those 4 bangers. your car rocks. bet it scoots along real good being so lite. i love the olive drab on the engine. maybe the whole car would look good and period in same colour. my two cents.

Neat car but scrape off those goofy decals all over the cowl panels, and paint the decklid and driver's door.

Cool little A, but do you think you could turn the volume down on the font a little?

  8. Looks like a blast! The gear change should really wake it up too.

great looking car ... I like the engine setup... There is a guy in town here that has a 29 rpu with a turbo 2.3 and a 5 speed.. runs its ass of and he said he gets 26 mpg on the highway

Cool little A. One thought on the gearing though. A friend of mine who drag races a turbo'd car has the opposite opinion. He was telling me that turbo cars like less gear actually, as that helps give the engine something to push against to build the boost, and they're torquey engine's anyway which can leverage it no problem.

I'll second the guy above in recommending less stickers on the front end, but that's just my opinion.

I <3 forced induction. I came from the VW world prior to finding my love of old american iron and a small turbo engine was king over there. Nice job!

very nice work, i wish i had more skills with EFI, i have a 2.3 out of a ranger pickup, non turbo, some days it runs great, others it can barely keep running, i bought a rebuilt 1974 2.3 points distributor for in it and i'm removing part of the intake and replaceing it with a carb, i'm installing it in a 27 t-sedan, i bought a whole truck for $300, i hope to use the engine, 5-speed and dif.

Anyone remember back in the late 80's when one of the hot-rod mags put a turbo, a hot cam, and a power-tune on an otherwise stock Ford Pinto station waggon, and it whooped a brand new Buick GN's ass?

bitchin' ride. i'm building a '29 tudor sedan that's going to get a turbo chevy ii motor. yours give me inspiration.

my guess would be that it's running speed density engine management.

    Looks like fun!
    Inspiring.
    It all fits.
    I have no aversion to decals. Don't even turn my nose up at cars without decals. I have a couple on my jalopy. Some have special meaning. The one of yours of the Mobile flying horse reminds me of a saying my Uncle had;
(has nothing at all with the current commentary, yours just reminded me of him)
When trying to get one of us kids in line, he would say "I'm goin' to kick a flyin' red horse outta you!"
If nobody liked decals, nobody would print them.
    Keep on keepin' on...........

I like the idea. Was thinking of it myself. I bought a new T Bird Turbo Coupe in 84 and it was a blast to drive. But couldn't keep my foot out of it.I hope you are running an oil line to the turbo or it will burn up.I burned up two on mine.
