looks good Chris. I had my upper posts chromed otherwise I would lop another 1.5 out of mine... -Chris
Thanks, I really wanna try your pivot conversion, but this will get the car going. I have another set of stantions to tow with.
stance wise ths is really giving me a good idea where my speedster will stand- I am doing alot of the same stance mods. it looks great- really good looking car!
Congrats - You must have been there pretty early to nab that one!! Looks good on the car - very straight & it's even got the ford badge at the top. How about a straight swap for my re-pop grille??.....( its really nice new & shiny ) I've been searching for a windscreen & posts for ages - and missed out on a mint complete one by mere seconds...... I actually got it Saturday afternoon as I was walking out of the swap meet. To mount this, do you use the 28/29 radiator, or would a 32 radiator be the way to go? If I use the 32 radiator, will the grill be up too high??
use the stock A radiator height... but you'll need a 32 for the stock filler cap to work you can put a filler neck elbow on the back and have the cap be fake? gotta trim a little off the bottom of the grill though...(cringe!!)
Looks like the shell has already been trimmed, so no worries.... looking good Chris, I'm as excited as Zach to see this build go through....
It does fit very good, but I don't thin kit has been shortened. Anyone have an orriginal that can measure from say, the bottom of the headlight wire hole to the bottom of the side of the shell?? Now I'm curious
Pivot conversion? I must know more! And the grille looks great, Chris! A successful swap meet I'd say.
Duke, I returned that grill already. I played around with a headlight stand I got at the same swap meet as the grill tonight. I am really thinking about running these Guide's with the bar, but will probably shorten the headlight stand up a bit...looks a little high for my taste.
I can measure mine. It was already cut to fit a Model A. I'm running a Model A radiator as Zach described with the filler on the inside of the of the upper tank. If I remember right, I think they call for 2" out of each side. I had to reposition the shell brackets to fit the grill. I'll check it out tomorrow for you. Gaters
Here's another one- Repo shell on a narrowed 29 radiator, top filler neck removed and plugged. Angled filler neck installed on top tank. Shell was notched on bottom about 2" Shell mounting brackets relocated. Not perfect but looks O.K. The radiator should also be shortened some(I didn't, it was a very tight fit) The hood top should be replaced also, because the radius is different, and if you change the radius the hood gets too long.
Chris, I'm sure that is an uncut shell. I measured three and they are all 1 5/8" from the bottom edge to the bottom of the small conduit hole on the driver's side. Tim
Chris, Stop by tomorrow night I'm off work at 7:00 and we can measure one of my deuce grills to see if yours has been cut.
Thanks everyone for the info on the grill. I measured and it looks to be uncut. Billy- thanks but tomarw I gotta do my taxes I got me new tires mounted tonight and I cut my new headlight bar down 5". I'll get some better pics tomarow in the daylight
