I can understand that, it looks like a fun ride. I made that chop a bit extreme, but the high roof definitely screws with the proportions, especially with those bitchin' fins on the back:)

  2. Didn´t want to force you to get involved in a chop, but I think one colour paint, blend the fender line into the door. The other thing is, how about taking a notch out of the back of the fins, so the back of the fender runs parallel to the bottom section of the trunk lid. Gives it some shape where I think its looking a little flat as it is. Extended the fender skirts too.

    Hope you like!

Thanks for Photoshoping. It didn't quite have the look I was expecting. I liked the grey version the best, but I already have the red paint so it is going to be red. The wheels are up in the air though. Leaning towards black powder coated 50's MOPAR 15" wires.

I've got a cat of the exact color of yours, except it's a short hair. Major pain in the ass sometimes but hey, what are you gonna do?

I wish it didn't have the overall look of it being a suede paint job, but I'm a newb at this and have a lot to learn.

Can anyone of you more experienced in this give me a clue on how to get a "shinier" paint job? I select with the paths/pen tool, desaturate, and the bucket fill with varying degrees of opacity and adjust a bit with brightness and contrast. I know it helps if the car you start out with is quite shiny and shows alot of reflections, etc. Thanks!

  13. Try bumping the contrast at some point. Gets more highlights into it.

The best thing to do is search for images of cars and take a look at the gloss effects. You have to take in account of the surroundings of the vehicle. You car is parked halfway on the grass and pavement. The grass reflection would show up darker than the pavement. Also the reflected horizon will have dark and light areas. Grass will be dark, buildings are usually a little lighter and the sky blends into the color of car.

Thanks for the tips guys. I do appreciate it!

Bob, that's the next step I need to take, using the painting tools to add highlights and shadows. I also need to get a graphics tablet. Love your .gif's!

How's about dropping the car a bit more and a very mild chop? And if someone wanted to play with color that would be cool too...Oh yeah, Caddy sombrero's if someone can pull it off!
    Thanks, Jer

Just for shits and giggles, and to satisfy my curiosity, could someone take this one and give it that satin black or semi gloss black finish, give it a flake purple top,but keep the scallops and everything else as is?

  28. If some of you are looking to get into a graphics tablet on a budget, you might want to check on this unit at Buy.com.

DigiPro T-8000U 8x6" USB Graphics Tablet

$35.00, pressure sensitive stylus, free shipping. It's nothing fancy and claims to work with Win98 up to XP, but not Vista. Even comes with some free photo editing software that at least ought to be better than MS Paint.

Like you need to stay up all night learning to use another computer toy!

I going to make a street rod out of this old army truck. It was flooded and all of the mechanicals are shot. My thoughts are to slam it and chop the top.
