Got a set of new in the box, high quality (not the crappy junk Taiwan ones) chrome/stainless type 14 inch beauty rings (like for GM rally wheels). I have no real need for them now but they are good trading material. Got them for $5.00.

The guy also had a set of tires from a pro steet pickup he wanted 100 bucks for, an insanely wide pair of rears with about 80% tread and a set of narrow Mickey Thompson fronts with about 20 miles on them. He would not break up the "set"...would have liked to grab those nearly new MTs.

4. i can't stay away from garage sales,i see one i have to stop, you never know what's there. and it gives you a chance to snoop around and see what else they have stashed away.i've bought three old motorcycles in the last several years at real cheap prices this way, there seams to be a lot of old bikes in garages not being used or wanted...greg

Garage sales are great...I've bought all kinds of cool stuff that way, everything from wheels and tires, to mini-bike parts, to car parts, cars, and even my old Honda chopper!

I drove by one today...not really a garage sale, but a garage where this old guy sells fixed up lawn mowers and tractors and stuff. Figured I'd ask about used carbs for my mini-bike. He said he had a brand new carb at home (it was his daughter's house he sells out of) and that I could have it for $12! I'm going back Monday to get it, of course!

We got to talking, and he really doesn't know much about internal engine repairs on these things...but he quickly gathered that I did! He said he could float some work my way on stuff that was over his head to fix! Hey...that's extra funds...cool by me! [IMG]

I go to garage sells when I can. my mother-in-law is the garage sell guru. She called yesterday and told me she bought one of those car club thingies that go on your bumper. It was a "Hi-Timers of Houston " plaque. It was a Houston club in the 50-60 area. Got it for five bucks. I'm starting a collection as I can find them. Got about 10 now.I found a 'shifters" form whitchta for 3 bucks. TP

11. Sometimes I let Mrs Rocky talk me into going to garage sales. I always act like I'm really doing her a favor by humoring her. I tag along while she looks at worthless shit like curtains and stupid furniture, while constantly asking me questions like, "Do you think this would look good with our [blank]?" I always say no.. I usually find a good score
on car parts. I bought a new, in the original box, Hurst shifter for my old sedan delivery, for 5 bux. 35 ford wheels are a common item at our garage sales too. I usually pay about 3 dollars apiece for them and I get a a bent one on occasion. Out of the last 6 I bought, one was a gonner.
The biggest seller is tools and tool boxes. I must have 4 or 5 small toolboxes with rusty, greasy wrenches. Every once in a while I come across snap-on tools in these boxes. I printed out the Snap-on date chart posted here on the HAMB a month or so ago and I take it with me to I.D. the snap-on stuff.
Don't tell my wife I enjoy garage saleing. She'll have our house full of old furniture and worthless shit. Wait! She already does.

I went to a DON OROSCO garage sale, although I didn't have very much money I walked away with a hard-on,, And then BRUCE MEYERS sold me his slippers and his gold dog whistle he wears around his neck, And I managed to get his chicks friends number and bone her after the oakland roadster show, she was 41 and looked hotter then most 21 year olds..

they were in the Bruce meyers entourage..
and I was in the Cole Foster entourage,,,

She liked my hair and my green humboldt weed..

I only find stuff when I have no money. Yesterday at a yard sale was a 37 Ford slantback project, with at least 4" off the top.

My dad bought a gas pump at a garage sale for 150 bucks. Apparently it was pretty rare. He went to buy parts for it and the guy offered him 5 grand for it (think that was the figure, been a while). All I ever find is Ron Popeil products and 8 track players. Man I love my salad shooter from Ronco!

that thing rules , I have one similar that used to belong to my dad . old gys love it when you tell em stuff like " you drive a hard bargain " . I think they know how silly that really is , and they just get a kick out of having someone to haggle with for a few minutes . good score !

Garage sales are awesome. I always come home with random crap i will probably never use , but its still cool stuff. I like to go to auctions, and antique shops, they usually have a little car stuff( Model T tail lights, T wheels,) talked to a guy this weekend said he just got rid of a complete FoMoCo tool kit for an A for 35 bux, kicked myself for not going out the last weekend. I did find some pretty neat 19th Century wrist shackles fully functional with a key for 28 bucks, similar pair on Ebay going for 80.00.
