The 2 was owned by Larry Lefler from Elmsford NY. He ran the car as a sportsman ( flathead) at Middletown from the late 50's to 1965.

I wonder if that is the same George Bouley who was the very first track champion at Shangri-La Speedway back in 1946? He looks to be about the right age - would probably be in his mid-late 50s at the time the pic was taken...

Steve - Do you recall where in Pennsylvania the chassis was located? There are very few if any of the old Chemung bugs left, it'd be cool to see one in person again.

Lee Thompson had a sporting goods shop on Franklin Ave. which is the main drag in beautiful Thornwood, never knew him to sponsor a car though, pretty neat.

  15. Verry cool to see the Butch Jelley photos. I grew up in Londonderry VT where he was/is a local legend.

It was sponsored by " Leland Tompkins" who owned the sporting goods store.

The car Butch is driving is the former Dutch Hoag #7 that Dutch drove to many feature wins (check out the portholes in the C pillar). Butch was a popular driver at Shangri-La who drove for years at a number of Southern Tier tracks, and was still active up until a couple of years ago.

Scrappy's tow trucks were at all the Langhorne races. I'll show Ralph(Scrappy) this picture, I'm sure he will i.d. the truck driver and helper.

I noticed a lot of pics and some stories that made me think some of you might have pictures or stories about my grandfather, Harvey Tattersall, Jr.

If you do please contact me at stattersall@gmail.com or give me a call at 860-591-4043.

    Thanks,

    Sanderson Tattersall

Love the pics of Carl "Bubby" Nagel on the previous pages. Carl will again be running a Modified at 5 Mile Point this year.
