this should be a reminder to not stare directly at the welding flash, right before welding. weld by braile. I'll admit i'm a crappy welder, but i have friends who are master welders, and i'm not afraid to ask them for help.

You kinda have to admit that using the throttle body as an exhaust cut out is an interesting idea.

I do feel much better about myself now.

Looks like a tongue-in-cheek trophy to be presented at a drunken mechanic-roast of a retiring gear-head, just before the naked mascot jumps from the crepe paper cake:D

those pipes are welded right to the cast iron part of the original manifold.wtff

  17. Hope he's got a hell of a good grinder.......

  18. Yes, I have no talent when it comes to welding, but if I put a pile of shit out like that, my buddies would dispose of my body and never admit to knowing me.....

  19. Reminds me of the goofy braces someone stuck on the little Skylark beater I had years ago, I guess as exhaust hangers or something. Just some angle iron that came down 3 or 4 inches with a piece that went across under car. The welds were so lousy I hit a chunk of ice/snow buildup that fell off someone else's car and it knocked one of the braces right off. Those of you who live in snow know normally those big chunks just break apart when you hit them.

Which of course I ran over the damned brace, cut a tire, then rounded off a lugnut trying to change it at about 5:00 on a Sunday night, I ended up driving it on home that way, but that's another story.

The worst part is the entire exhaust for that car was like $400, with a converter, at the time. And that was the expensive chain shop price. What would the right brackets have cost? $5? Shit even if it was tied on with bailing wire that would have been less work.

I bet the guy that did it was sick too; Just a little anti splatter and more heat might have helped.

    I thought so too.

Once you get past the heat concerns, that's a really good way to disguise a super sleeper. You'd just see muffler bodies under the car. Several companies do offer rear mount turbos, from a technology standpoint that's a viable setup. Interesting.

The Mazooma photo is some creepy stuff. It looks like the guy overlapped all those lasagna stripes of metal and welded. He made himself more work than necessary. It will take at least a gallon of bondo to cover that mess up. Since he painted it like that it's obvious he doesn't care. YIKES !

  27. Remember when we were kids in school and made those paper mache masks out of newsprint and paste!?!
Can't decide if he was really covering up a hole or if he was making decoration.:eek::eek::eek: Mike

I think he shot a coat of primer on it just so his work didn't rust. Would be a shame to ruin his efforts.
