Also anybody know a place that might sell the rubber turn signal mounts? mine are falling apart and won't hold the lenses in anymore :-( we should reproduce them! and dome lights too they are hard to find!

 

My father's "daily driver" in the late 50s was a (Mild Custom) '55 Plymouth Belvedere More-Door ... The only photographs I have of it were were taken circa '59 ... during a visit with "the relatives" in his home town of Beach, North Dakota (hence all the people "in the way" ):

sorry bout that, that woud be a 270, no idea where I came up with {261} I dropped it off at the machine shop, did not get burnt on the engine, its the original bore and no cracks This will be my wifes car,it will stay mostly stock but I will be looking for a better intake at the Portland Swap meet next week. My 36 is glad to share its home with the 55.

Thanks for getting this thread started and for all who have sent pictures. They are all nice and certainly shows that there are other 55's and 56's than bow ties and blue ovals. My entry to the thread is a 55 Plymouth Belevedere suburban. I am running a 340 with a torqueflite and an 8 3/4 (3.23's). Also have disk brakes, power rack, Vintage Air, and two inch lowering thanks to new springs from Eaton. Keep those MoPars coming!!!

 

Nice car ramrod! Care to elaborate on the disc brake swap, how you did it, and what kit you used and any more pics? Also did you have to cut the transmission tunnel to put in the torqueflite? I also am wondering if you kept the pushbuttons or went with an aftermarket floor shifter for the torqueflite? Also what model car did the 8-3/4 come from? thank you for any info....

 

Mr. Belevedere---Disk brake is from AAJ Brakes. Works well, good instructions. I did have to make some modifications to my pedal and pushrod but I am pleased with the results. Tranny did not require modifications to the floor board or tunnel. It is very close but I have not had any problems. I modified the original tranny mount to work with the 727. I am using a mid 70's Chevy van tilt column complete with column shifter. To connect to the tranny shift lever, I am using B & M cable with B & M Mopar bracket. Works well. Rear end is from a late 60's B-Body. If you are going to run bigger tires, use an A-Body 8 3/4. ( I am using an A-Body rear under my street rod and have Moser axles for the 4 1/2 bolt pattern. With this set up I am using Volare backing plates, drums and shoes.) My radiator is a V-8 A-Body. Hope this helps.

 

Dang.. it looks good.. I tried to fit a 383 with a 727 in the 55 of mine.. it would not go.. yours looks right at home.. Real Nice..

 

Hemi32, thanks so much for posting this. I recently traded for a '55 moredoor from olklunker here on the HAMB. He'd already started the process by lowering it in the rear and shaving the door handles and emblems. These pics just gave me that much more inspiration to get mine on the road. With the exception of the color and the moon discs, this is pretty much where I'm headed, although I must admit that after seeing these, I'm tempted to go with the discs, too. Awesome thread, guys!

very nice ride tranny man!!! I'm about to do disc brakes to mine, do you mine elaborating on the disc brake setup? Also did you have to do any transmission tunnel modification to get that transmission to fit?

Having split exhaust manifolds made for it.

To be lowered 2 inches all round.

I have been working too longer hours to even look at it.

 

Love this wagon, I see it at the host hotel at York @ Nats East every year.

 

Thanks for posting that picture - I sold Mr. Graul, aka "Worm," the Kiddee Drivette that Howdy is riding in. I am glad to see it put to use and getting smiles. My dad (Ramrod 36) has the coral and brown '55 wagon on page 8 of this thread. We met "Worm" at Goodguys Hershey several years ago when we saw his '55. It has beennice getting to know him a bit...
