That's right. Post 'em here. The Slingshot/Digger/FED craze is in full swing. So dig out your old photographs (cars, speed equipment, set ups, pit scenes, etc), best stories and post them here. We're scheduled to build two this summer (The Chrome Czar and Daddy's Girl), and I know there are more out there being built as you read this. So lets all share what we have, give each other ideas, and GO RACING!

Here are some that I have built over the last few seasons as well as the car that I drove in the late 60's/early 70's.

    Roo

Six cylinder English Zephyr powered--seen here with the owner Rex Brown at the wheel at Castlereagh in Australia. The only racing trophy that I ever won came in this car in 1971
    [IMG]

Originally built for Wes Leigh with an injected motor--went to Florida and ended up with this blower motor
    [IMG]

    Mark Vaught--first car
    [IMG]

    Mark Vaught--current car
    [IMG]

Street legal-- Harley Davidson powered--built for the late Greg Latourette
    [IMG]

My own Don Long--waiting to be restored

Course so does the fastest and quickest Slingshot fueler ever. Anyone know who that is or was?

Damn, I hope everyone that gave me **** about the engine mounts in Lucky Strike takes a good look at the ones in your dragster! Lucky Strikes were like something out of a tank compared to these. And yet, somehow, the survive?! :D

I like the (appears to be) AN16 feed line too.

You need some young guys to go to the track with you and learn from all the knowledge standing around that Hemi!

  11. Brad Thompson? Haven't been in touch with those guys for awhile. Did they rebuild after Firebird (Boise)?

I did some looking and it looks like Brett Harris/Jack Harris Nitro Thunder has the record now at 5.56. That may not be current though. The site I found that at did say that Brad Thompson had his car running again.

"Back When", a W.A.G. would be "Kansas John" Wiebe. It seems like he ran slingshots about as long as anyone.

The first picture was from the Drag Racing Magazine, Dec 1967 and the second one was at the 2009 March Meet.

Dan Horan's NTF car was the last Don Long built Front Engine Dragster back in 1970(?). The 8 3/4 Chrysler, with Summers Bros Full Floater Axles with Airheart Brakes rearend in my Cackle Car is the original complete unit out of Dan's car when he replaced it with a Ford 9''.

It was! Horan's car was totalled from the motor plate forward and maybe more. The pix of it further down track after it got into the left side wall also seem to indicate that some portions of the left side of the motor were ground away. Dan ended up in hospital for a few days with various broken bones and contusions.
The car on the left of the photo is (was?) John Rodeck's with Mike Chrisman at the wheel and according to John it was probably totalled too.

I crewed for Dan at the CHRR and my friend Jeff and his Dad John crewed for him when he was winning a lot back a few years ago. That car was great looking and I hope he gets it fixed for his grandson.

Brad ran at the march meet this year, they rebuilt the car by doing a new back half on it, he had a little trouble at the meet with oiling and the car wanting to lift off the ground when the chutes deployed, plus he was only cleared to race 2 weeks prior to the meet-Neglected
