You should start doing plastic surgery. What a complete makeover.

You took the ugliest girl in school and turned her into a prom queen. Well, almost.

I still have the 57 Firedome conv't. in a state of repair, but have not made any progress on it since I got the 58 panel truck...
Good thing is that since I stopped working on her, the previously unavailable patch panels and gas tank I needed have become available...now, this winter she will get some attention.

Is it possible to turn a 53 276 Hemi into a true dual exhaust?

  15. What do you mean?

If I'm reading this right, the left side channels into the right side and exits in one pipe. Is it possible to run dual exhaust withOUT using a Y pipe? Did someone ever make dual headers?

  17. Then your answer is yes.
There are a few companies that make headers and a few that make flanges to fabricate your own. You could eliminate the Y pipe and run true duals from the stock manifolds. They used to sell kits back in the '50s and '60s for our cars.

I hope I answered your question.

    Desoto with teeth check
    currently in the restoration process.
Not a regular production model. One of them oddball OZ UTEs from down under now causing lots of confused looks in middle America.

Also have a 1958 Desoto Firemite that will look like this again eventually?
Yeah I like the oddbal stuf and even collect Underdash record players and steering wheel clocks for Desotos and other Chrysler products

I'll put pics of my 54 up when I get home. Seems like there are parts around for every year but 54. I know where a 53 is sitting in the back corner of a junkyard WITH the grill, barely touched. I've found 56 and up everywhere. What happened to the 54's?

Just in case some of you guys have been hiding under a rock for the last ten years or better? Here is a list of all known Desoto dealerships in the states.
This is the most up to date list by state. http://www.desoto.org/index.php?module=Pagesetter&func=viewpub&tid=1&pid=35 I started the list probably 20 years ago in a three ring binder and got lucky when I found a 1955 regional dealer listing that listed all direct dealers in the states in 1955. And conmbined the list I was building from lots of other sources. the NDC has taken over the list and continues to update it from her on out.

Take a little time to see who sold them in your area and it might help dig some stuff out of the woods?

I found a heck of a lot of parts for my old 57 Adventurer convertible with this list and if nothing else it should point toward the smaller towns that had dealerships that have the best possibility of having Desotos in the local junkyards and hidden in garages.

Here is my digging ideas, use them or ignore them? your choice!

A low deck DeSoto Hemi? That won't make anyone mad. Now if was a 330-341-345, them's fightin words! :D

My '57 Chrysler is getting a DeSoto grille.. hahahaaaa

  27. Pacman,...

...that car is several projects away I guess but I hope to build it as a highboy with a 318 V8 that I came across. The chassis needs some rust repair as does the floor of the car and the rear wheelwells; I have another rear body section for that repair.
Been buildin it in my head for a couple years already, hopefully that'll help.

Roadkill- Thanks for posting those links, that's some pretty neat info. I have a copy of the original invoice for my '55 Fireflite, and it was purchased from Falls Church DeSoto-Plymouth in Falls Church, VA. The Salesman's name was Ernie Geist.

    "Black Betty" My 55 Soto

She was brought to this shape by none other than "Moldy" Marvin. From The Rat Fink Family of Friends.
I will be finishing her out with power windows, electric door openers and lowering her 2 more inches.:D
