Seems to me that Hurst sold it as an aftermarket shifter for a while. Didn't the OEM one have a locking feature on it to keep valets out of the manual side? The one in that car doesn't. I remember the lock, not much else.

These are from a photo shoot at Indianapolis Raceway Park 1968 or 69. these are from post card size pics, the original 8x10's are in a safe.

This is my how much safety has changed over the years. This blower is from an altered that a friend of my dads ran. They were warming it up in the pits and it was popping through the injector, and all the guys working on the car advised him not to run it. Well he did anyway, I was about 7 at the time, and remember this very well. This is back when you could have your chase truck in the return lane right next to the cars making the pass.

We were only about 20 to 30 feet away from the altered, side by side, the truck bed loaded with 5 kids ages ranging 6 to 11 he staged the car, it went green, and as soon as he nailed it this happened. The blower went 35 feet into the air and landed about 3 feet from the bed of the truck where we all were seated. We all went Ya Cool and clapped with joy not knowing we had just escaped death. So thats what those belts are good for now.
