1st off i want to start by saying this site has ALOT of GREAT looking rides! Nice job everyone. Now, my name is Cody and I am 21 years old. I will be graduating this May 09 from hawkeye college as a certified auto body tech. I have grown up around hot rods all my life and grow to love them more and more everyday. I am working on buying a 1954 Chevy Pickup at the moment to turn into a DD rat rod on bags. I am going to be buying an 81 dodge today and flat blacking, slamming, red wheels, and driving just to start my trasition into the rat rod world. :D I am not going to be one of those young punks that run their mouth about everything. I like to read and learn. I love looking at and appreciating others hard work and getting more and more ideas as I go along doing so. I am currentlly helping a freind bag his 51 Ford 4 door car. Its great working on these old rides with some metal that thicker then paper like most of the new cars are made of. This seems to be a great site and look forward to getting to knwo some of you.

Thanks...I'll be sure to call it what it is from now on....Hot Rod. :D Your right, after re-reading...the 54 would be a hot rod. not a rat rod. My fault. good catch though...

  6. If you need to practice some of your body work skills, I got a big rusty wag over in Independence! Ha Welcome and tread lightly at first, learn to search, and chime in if you can help somebody. Ive learned a ton of stuff here.

welcome to the greatest place on the net. dont use the RR word here at all , there are NONE on this site. I am not yelling just helping you out. I thought the same when I got here as you and learned very fast, so just take it out of your vocab lol.

where do you live also? you can put your city on there, we wont come out and stalk you just yet..lol

If you wanna do some extra body work, i have most of everything to do it, but no time. you can come over and I'll show you my mountain of projects

Welcome man! and watch for IOWA HAMB meetings!

Welcome from Nebraska. Not all the neat cars are on the coasts!! Great stuff here.....in the midwest. Actually, all over the country....and, yes, the rest of the world. Hot rods are truly international.

  22. Whoa, I wasnt sayin you could have the wag for your project, just sayin you could practice you trade on my project. Besides, you would have to catch it first, and its running hard right now! Oh yeah, do what your buddy says, buy that 54, even though I dont know what 54 hes talking about.

dont worry brad that what i knew, between cody and myself we have quite a few projects going on, from all eras, the 54 i am telling cody about is a 54 chevy 3100 pickup,

I just bought 2 of them as more fun projects and the guy that i bought them from has another one that he wants to sell, so i keep pushing cody into buying it,

BTW for those of you that are reading this, cody and myself go to school togeather, he has helped me on my 51, (but not enough)

so i am trying to get cody into that 54 truck, so it will be pretty cool having three of them runnen around

and go ahead and flame cody for the RR word, he can take the heat :p

Im here in Waterloo, Iowa. Yea I couldnt take it on even if you wanted me too. too many irons in fire as it is. :) I have no problem with reading and searching. Only way to learn besides seeing it done.

Lets all note that the RR word no longer exists in my vocabulary and you wont see it again. :D I would like to come what you have. These old vehicles get me all warm and fuzzy inside. :p Its nice to know their are more people around into this then what many see or know of....

Im trying to save some money for it but I have school to pay off first then a couple bills I would like to stop coming in the mail. haha. Once that happens I will be getting it im sure of it. hey, I welded up 90% of your fat man fab front clip, did some tear down, and even givin you some ideas...shaved gas lid....lol. When you move into the rental house at the bottem of my hill we will get some things done for sure! It will be fun to drive them around town showing all the young punks what a true ride is all about. If you must flame, flame away. haha. But i swear I learned my lesson. :D

Also, thank you everyone for the welcomes and im glad I can be apart of the HAMB!

Welcome! I just signed up myself.... I'll be sure never to mention Rat here unless there is a Trap in the same sentance.
