I just started tearing this one down for a gasser build this afternoon.

    1950 Plymouth slantback -- will have a 440/727 w/reverse manual valvebody combo, 8 3/4 rear w/4.11 Sure-grip

The floorboards are shot to heck, one rocker needs replaced, and one fender is banged up but the rest of the car is in pretty good shape.

  2. Here is what I have been working on for the past few months. Im almost there! Final Picture was what it looked like when I got it.

I straight axled it using the stock frame head; so it can be dropped back down on stock A-arms if wanted.

This spent 13 years in one barn, then 12 years in another barn. We pulled it out last fall and i got busy sticking the 415LA,727 and 8 3/4 in it. I hope to have her on the road but still ugly by August. Should be a 10.00 ride but given the gasser tech i'll be happy with an 11.5 haha.

Nice car, you need to bring it up to Atlanta to Dick Brannons next get together. You mind if I post your photos on the FE forum? I had a '54, '56 and a '57. Wish I had them back.

Here's an old gasser that ran S GA, FL and AL back in the middle sixties.

Mine's not a gasser, it's an alcohol-er. Here's a couple of shots from the March Meet last week.

  14. Well , I must say I stumbled over this site the other day, and WOW! what an awesome site it is. I sold my Gasser 39 Studebaker Champion Coupe back in 96 and wish I never had. It was built in the early 60's for the strip and had gone through several owners... I bought it and made it Street legal. 350 Chevy, 4-71 blower, 9 ft long magnesium ladder bars, halibrand rims, nose bleed stance, chrome bell straight axle,It was so much fun, and the looks you got... needless to say I traded it for a 64 Dodge Polara 500 (more re-fined) with a 440 4-speed because the wife worked nights, I had the 3 Kids, and couldn't cruise in the studes 2 seater. The guy I sold it to turned it into a pro-street car, half way through hacking it , he sold it . Although the car is still awesome as it is, It will never be the same. Had I known he would hack it up, I never would have traded. I found the Stude a few years back in Syracuse, and have been freinds with the new owner, Mike ever since. He too wishes it was still a gasser and is very interested in it's history. If I can find a way to scan some pictures of it, I will try to get them on here. I now have a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA with a 390 FE bored .060 over twin 600 edelbrocks - very fast car... I have been toying with the idea of putting a straight axle under it. I love the look of those nose bleed gassers but I'm not sure if I want to change this car. Hopefully the picture of my Fairlane and Mikes Stude will appear when I hit the reply button - Here to all new Gasser Friends!

  15. Okay , I'll try the photo thing again

  16. 39 Studebaker...These are picts way before I owned it, If any one has ever seen this car,or knows the guy in the photo, I would love to hear from you. It was owned by a member of the Der Kobblers car club in Jamestown NY back in the 60"s and 70's. It was one of the first candy colored cars in the area Candy metalflake yellow with yellow glass

This is my 1940 Chevy Gasser that ran in 1965 at Atco, Englishtown and Vargo Dragways. I purchased it about five years ago and it needed to be completely redone. I currently drive it on the street and have a great time with it.

This is mine , not as nice as most on here , but we got to start somewhere right. I bought it in the 90s out of a wrecking. Sold it and the guy lifted it a bit higher than it was. need to lower it some. Will have a small block and glide for now and a 4 speed later.

    Hello Kiwi Kev,
Here are a few more pictures of the coupe, it originally ran a Hillborn Injected small block with a 4 speed, now it has a tunnel rammed small block, 4 speed, 4:56 gears, early Ford straight axle, Chevy rear with quarter-elliptic springs and home made ladder bars, one piece fiberglass nose. Suspension is unchanged since drag days, however I did move motor forward to pick up leg room. --Bob
