Please tell me which wheel treatment you prefer. Your honest opinions solicited and appreciated. Thank You, Jackie #1 - Coddington Wheels #2 - DeSoto Caps #3 - Fiesta Caps #4 - Steel Wheels P Upon preview, I noticed size of pictures. SORRY !! Anyone that can, you have my permission to downsize. I am computer challenged, and don't know how? Jackie
none of them. first of all, the tire doesnt match the car. dont think radial works, dont like the blackwall or the thin pin. bias ply with some more white. once you've got the right tire, i think of all your options i like the desoto caps. -scott noteboom
au contraire, Notebloom - radials ALWAYS work - but you're right about the wws - owner should go for some with a lot more width, but please resist the urge to slap 'gangsta' walls on it. That's a beautiful car, and I concur with the predominant wisdom...DeS caps for sure dj
Gotta be DeSoto for me. The steel wheels are too new. The fiestas are nice but not perfect for your car. No way on the Boyds. Look around for 55 DeSoto caps or early 50's Plymouth and DeSoto. They would look real nice on there. Both are cheap and easy to find. '51 Plymouth caps with bullets; '55 DeSoto caps with bullets; ******Knuckles
Mine always said "If it has ***s or wheels, sooner or later you're gonna have trouble!" Guess a lot can be said for both of our dads!!!
Looks to me like you bought the wrong car ! If you wanted a traditional rod you should have bought one .That is a good looking set up if you are wanting to travel to NSRA or Goodguys shows .If you try to dress it down it will look like you dressed it down.Next you will be removing your third brealight modern steering wheel and heaven forbid you better not have any Billet in the engine compartment ! Good luck .
Thanks. I lean toward the DeSotos, but never thought I would til I tried them. No billet, still have original 3rd brakelight, do have junk yard Chevy Cavalier steering wheel. If I could go back, I defiently would have painted it Suede, but stuck with shinny for a while. Really, really want Wide Whites, but cost way too much. I drive it way too much/long trips to run Bias tires. Please, keep ideas/opinions coming. Jackie
So, tell us more about car-suspension, drive train, interior/etc. Want old school/cool hot rod /modern? Why did you pick the wheels shown as examples to pick from? I do not like any of the examples on the car. Looks like a old school/modern mix with the spot lights/disc brakes. Either loose the spot lights and go modern or run the rallys with black walls and full size hub caps. If you stay old school only wide whites will make it look right. You can shop around at swaps, misc online sites or even here for wide whites.
I'm with my Canadian pal, Ferg, DeSoto it is... tho' I do agree with someone that the coddington's add interest and veer away from the same ol' same ol'. Nice to see you on here Ferg. himmelberg
