Sure was Wayne Reutimann.Wayne was at Middletown the next week with two black eyes but thank God he is only 5'6" not 6'.Wayne never raced again up north.Buzzie was also involved in the wreck.Howie Croce in the 9c started the mass wreck coming out of turn 2.Tighe Scott in the 28 car went airborne and sheared Waynes roof off.GlennFitzcharles car 16 caught fire,Kevin Collins in the 12 car was knocked out but was quickly aided by other drivers.Today Wayne and his son Wayne Jr. are still racing sprint cars .One other sad note : about 1yr later the owners of the 666 were killed in a garage explosion thus ending the 666 car forever.

You are right on the money,it was Wayne.I talked to him the following week at Middletown and he had two black eyes.He never raced again up north, went back to Florida. He had a 2month son Wayne Jr. Wayne Jr raced my dirt mod in 2001 at Utica Rome Speedway. Both Wayne Sr. and Wayne Jr. are racing sprint cars in the Tampa Bay League.Thank God Wayne is only about 5'6" otherwise it could have been really bad.One other note:about 1yr later the owners of the 666 car were killed in a garage explosion thus ending the 666 car forever.

To all, that #39 coupe was mine. I traded it to Mark Reardon from upstate NY. I built the car from parts. The coupe body was from a # 3 that Wayne drove.

I remember that picture well. They were good friends maybe that's why Lee ended up marring Dutch's daughter.

I got the photo at Shangri-La,from the photo stand. They used to have a "Grab Bag"...3 photos for $1. The car was built for Langhorne, and they were trying to make it as light as possible, like Geoff Bodine's Valiant. I believe Lee ended up upside down at Langhorne with it,and the cage collapsed. Reportedly, the cage was made of exhaust pipe.

    John,
I think you missed Ryan's point on why he stopped the thread. A friend of mine (Lucky77) was there and posted pictures of some of the traditional cars there. His thread is still going. These oval track modifieds are as traditional as anything on the HAMB and I'm sure will continue.

It's 1972 at RRbR ! In for some minor repairs. Damn, having a mod in the shop just look sooooo right.

john: that is just the harsh world of the rat rod on the hamb.. they cause a lot of drama.., and threads with them usually get shut down.
this thread, and the vintage stock car thread regularly have off topic hamb cars on them, but the threads stay true to thier title, and there is no drama on them.
I think we are safe for now.

    Hey John,
I hope you still continue to post ther great photos of some of the memoeies i grew up with.... Also many moons ago I bought a Lancaster speedway tape from you that were produced during the Serwacki era circa 69-70 it was great!:D Do you have any other videos available? Thanks Tom Bliss -Syracuse NY

  28. Another thing that helps this thread is how many hits we get daily and bring people to this board, member or not! I love how most of the cars we post are traditional hot rods, just by looking at some the designs these guys used were way ahead of their time! We talk Isky, Wally Parks and what not, they started with racing. Racing and hot rods go hand and hand! :O) think Daytona, Vanderbilt cup, Indy, to Bonneville and El Mirage to all the short tracks long gone! This is TRADITION!
