They say the average person is awake for 16 hours and thirty minutes a day. Considering that, you will have around 124 8-minute stretches today. Now, don't get me wrong - there a lot of productive things you can do in 8-minutes. Hell your boss can pr...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
I'm smiling big time now. I miss those old days a lot. Damn, Art Arfons was da man. Crazy as a bat, but he was da man. I can still remember his baloney slicer car. Had a giant fan on the back that drove the car.
I liked it alot but I have 2 notes... -I wonder who's grandmothers legs those were. -You owe me 12 more seconds, Buddy.
Pioneering at its best, no 1-800 parts there, guys out having fun with cars, thats what it is supposed to be about! great video, thanks
Holy***** !! I'm pretty sure that's the day the phrase ""Run What Ya Brung"" was adopted. The Front and Center Steer coupe was sick and did I spy a Mohawk at the 2:00 mark ?? And Halls Speed Shop--- Geno they are advertising for you man !! Then to top it all Officer Bates to award the trophies !! Great footage >>>>.
I love the cop handing out the trophies at the end... I'd bet he probably knew most of those guys from street racing
Very nice! a good use of eight min. I like how at 1:58 you first see that green Allison job and the film starts to fade, I use to film with regular 8mm they came on a 25' 16mm roll that you had to flip over in the middle of filming. The first and last parts would be exposed to sunlight where they would splice the two halves together, that's when you see the wash out. Nice legs, by the way. ;-)
I loved going to Lawrenceville. Don't remember being there in 55, but was in 56. My friend ran a hopped up 56 Golden Hawk. He was in the 100 mph club, which was damm fast at the time.
Awesome video. Definately worth puting 8 minutes into that's for sure! I can watch these old videos all day looking for obscure things in the background. Nice post Ryan.
Thanks Ryan, I won't be askin for them back. Great video. Cool to see what may be the FIRST Green Monster. I've seen the tractor(s) at a few county fairs as a kid but never the LSR or drag cars. Lux Blue, I had the same thought about the Granny legs. Camera man really liked them. Thanks again Ryan, I think I'll go watch it again. Eric
Any video that starts out with a Fiat Topolino gets my vote. How soon we forget how slow the car were back then. Not much clutch, gearing and tire technology back then, but boy did we have fun.
. . . awake for 16 hours and thirty minutes a day? Can't wait to watch that tonight, when I've got more time.
I think all of us that weren't in that era, wish we were or that the times were still the same. I love fast vehicles and power!
It's really cool to see how so many things haven't changed, men are still men and hot rodders still run what they've got. I loved the kid hopping in the back of the four door, probably to get a little extra grip! Sedans, rails, coupes, convertibles, roadsters, four door, two door, no door...thanks Ryan, that really made my day
What about that coupe (20 seconds in) with the driver in front of the body. I'd love to see some pictures of that.
definitely liked pretty much every 32 roadster i saw in this (and im not the biggest fan of them, i preffer 29's) and the Hall A 29 was bad****... but.. although i'd hate to see em now.... those legs were about one of my fav's in it
Lots of Oldsmobiles. And I made my own sounds... Did the Green Monster run doubled back tires, or were those singles on the back?
Cool video! I liked it for a couple of reasons. It shows that not everything happened in California back then, and it also shows several cars that the "Trad Police" would****** about if built today.
Great VID!! Kinda of reminds me of KKOA in Salina!! That has to be the best part of the show racing down the ol airstrip is a BLAST!!! -COS
