Wow there were some nice cars there, from the other threads I thought it was a show for the rodent crowd. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with others... the pictures you took make this look like you were at a different show!! Thanks for taking the time to post them and sharing your experience with us!! Glad to see some of more tasteful cars are still attending this show.

As stated earlier, VLV was really big, maybe too big. They charged $5.00 to get into the car show and I waited at least 45 minutes to get in. Was probably a pretty good take and those that put on the show deserve it. Some of the cars were shit and some were nice. I talked to one guy from R.I. that put together a '23 T with a 302 Ford in it. He built it in 5 days, the front brakes were non-functioning Model A mechanicals, had a dandy "S" bend in the draglink and it was a scary ride. I don't think I would want to be on the road at the same time. However there were some others that were outstanding. Here are just a few of the ones that I thought were worthy of photos. Tomorrow I will try to load some more. ENJOY

    Scott,
Glad you had a good time and thanks for the pictures of the real hot rods that were there. I can see a trip to Texas in your future next year about this time.

  9. Great shots, nice to see the good cars rather than some of the crap.

  10. I'm really diggin' the '39-'40 custom Merc pics. Thanks.

I agree with you Lucky, the show was OK, buy the money me and my girl spent for the weekend i could have bought a lot of parts for my new project. I will post my pics up this week sometime.

what cracked me up is the guy across from the deisel sedan guy that would start his car up and rev the crap out of it every time the deisel was started.

  13. There seems to be more and more show promoters that feel they need to accept anything and everything that shows up at the gate. Dixie Fried here in Atlanta gets the same crazy mix of Traditional Rods, Customs and rodent infested vehicles.

Thanks for posting some of the better traditional cars that attended VLV.

while i didnt get the car ready in time to go (i went car-less,) we still had a good time at the show. lot's of good stuff, lot's of crap, lot's of scenesters.... well, lots of everything-- it's vegas after all, and vegas is all about excess....

i actually have a good time looking at the misguided cars and rats. i had a hell of a time amusing myself looking at the diesel rat thing-- it brought a smile to my face. it's takes all kinds and all flavors. sometime you need a little sour to make you best appreciate the sweet.... :)

Hey Scott...I'm surprised you didn't see Dustin and his buddy Mike at the Vegas show. Dustin drove the Desoto and Mike drove his blue rpu. You may not have seen the Desoto since he chopped the top. There's been a few pics on some other posts. They left today to do CA then start their way back to Indy.

I was looking for them. I heard the guys up on stage accepting their award but I was all the way back by the vendors. Dustin's car looks killer. I must've missed it at the show but I've seen some pics of it. We missed you guys at Autorama this year. Hopefully we'll see you at the Pileup.

Couldn't have said it any better myself Scott. VLV is a wknd dedicated to music and vendors with a show attatched. There are many nice cars that come out to the event, mainly the Shifters cars and a few other select kustoms, but overall its still a music oriented wknd.

I have a deal with my girlfriend. We go to Vegas for mainly her so she can see alot of bands and vendors she otherwise wouldn't get to see on the East Coast. Then we head off to Austin for the Roundup for me, so I can take in a huge number of awesome cars.

Good to see you this wknd Scott, it was quite unexpected.

Bill, good seeing you too man. Plan on seeing me at the Round Up next year. I've got a deal with my girl too, it usually involves me going to all the shows I want as long as she can get hammered while we're there:rolleyes::D

Not really, we stayed at the Monte Carlo plus our flights, taxis, eating, drinking, and a little gambling it adds up quick. We went in 2007 and stayed at Paris. Just the flights and hotel for that trip was $1250 and that was two years ago.

You must be talking about a different girl than the one you bring to breakfast. She is always so sweet and quiet. :D:D

Viva was great. It was my first time and my wife and I had a blast. I thought the car show was killer. Probably the best I have been to. I have never been to the Roundup or Hunnert or anything like that. All I ever really get to see is Good-Guys and local cruise nights. Not one Chevelle or Camaro, no billet or modern interiors or gigantic wheels, so I loved it. Not every car was perfect but I enjoyed the hell out of all of them, saw a lot of cars I loved (really diggin the old Caddies now), met some cool people, drank way to many beers, heard some great as well as terrible music, and just had a killer time. I am totally ready to do it again.

For all of you who couldn't attend the show, Lucky77's pictures nail it - they are a good representation of the cars there, and from what I heard there were 1000 registered! Don't get hung up on the goofy ones that the other VLV 12 threads seemed to be focused on as they don't represent the quality of most rides at this show.

Thanks for posting the pics, Lucky. It brought the car show much more into focus. Here are a couple more: I tried not to duplicate what you already had here, but may have with a couple. I also threw in a picture from our roadtrip overof my buddy's Mopar gasser. He completed it @ 4:30 AM Thursday morning; we all hit the road at 7:30! It made the drive from L.A. to Vegas with no problems, but it is hard to find racing gas in the desert!

I want to publicly thank you for posting pictures of SOME of the nice cars at our show. We are working extremely hard at bringing quality back and it can't happen over night. There were close to 800 cars at the show, but magazines like OSR & Rebel Rods seem to focus on the 40 or so shit piles that we end up letting in. I have talked to all magazines that were out there (including Rod & Custom) and hope the photo journalists will let it be known that the majority of the machines were decent and well built.

I met von dust at the valet area in front of the hotel. Cool car! I guess they had car trouble near Gallup NM. So if anyone can help them, look for that thread!
