I looked on a map of the area and in the HAMB Helper pages for someone nearby and they really are in the middle of nowhere. Sorry bud, I can't think of anyone else. Can they change batteries between the two cars so the one with the bad generator can run on the others battery while their is getting changed while one the road and then perhaps make it to Albuquerque where there is HAMB help?
just talked to em and they are gonna get back out on the road and head towards gallup. if any of you are on the way and know of any junk yards or a place to get a generator, that would be awesome!! they are out there on 40 i do believe in a rpu and a chopped 55 desoto soo keep an eye out if ya can thank you
I'm going to PM you with two phone numbers of HAMB guys in the Albuquerque area, FlatErnie being one of them. Call these dudes on the phone and ask if they know of any yards that are west of them along I40.
There used to be a junkyard on the westside of Gallup, just past the TruckStop of America...but I haven't been there since '87... Gurley Motors, the Ford dealer there, might be able to help too, hit the service desk and ask for help, there are some old school rodders in town, someone will be able to hook them up Gurleys is right off of Coal avenue I think, it's a big outfit, hard to miss. My mom works there, so I know they're still around
Call you Mom on the phone and see what info you can find BEFORE the boys roll into town. Give your mom the heads up and she can ask the other employees and get back to you with names and numbers that YOU can then pass along to Yancey here.
Just talked to Dustin, he is trying to get the seized bearing off the nose of the 12V generator and put a good one on it off an older 6V unit they found in Holbrook. I told him that we have found some potential help in Albuquerque and also Gallup. He said he would keep me posted on when they leave Holbrook and in what condition.
Dustin got them going. Local junkyard owner in Holbrook finally came to work. The guys scrounged his pile of generators and found one that will work. Installed it and the plan is to drive to the next big city and have it checked to see if it is charging
I am in Kingman if I had seen this earlier I know friends there. Let me know if they make it through here ok.
Dudes , what were ya thinking???. I got a few new units on the shelf plus all the parts etc. Could have sent them what ever they needed next day anywhere in the US!! Not like Dustins mom works here or anything.......
I have a rebuilt one on the shelf if they need one sent next day air.. its out of my 54 Chev Bel-Air... PM me if needed, they can return it when they get home...Ryan
Just saw your post and wanted to thank you for the offer. Dustin found one at the local junkyard. the owner is a town drunk???, and finally come dragging into work. They made it out of Holbrook that day only to find bigger problems that night just east of Gallup see here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352714
