There was just one on Ebay last week...supposed to be original from the 60's or 70's. Called the "blast from the past" Real clean body and paint but no driveline. It did have old win stickers in the back window. Bidding barely topped $1000
well, i dont think the x-frame would lend itself well to the front leaf and straight axle without a bit of work. thats what made me think twice
there is a very nice 58 that runs with the Midwest G***ers. I wish I had a pic to show you. No straight axle, but who says a straight axle is necessary qualification to be a g***er. There are actually quite a few X-frame cars that run. You may have seen the black 60 Chevy that twists itself all up. Runs 10.0 on a small block 331.
that 60 has a small block?! christ i figured it was a nasty 409 or 396 or something. sweet! this one?
yup, that is Ron Johnson showing his stuff at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI. He leaves on a transbrake at 10k rpm. Nice guy
Heavy don't matter in Gas cl***. It goes by weight, A/Gas is the lightest, and so on down the alphabet. A '58 would probably run in E/Gas. Give me a couple of years (unemployed now), I'm doing my '58 as a gas-style street car.
That has to be the most twisted out of shape launch I have ever seen!!! Man does that thing ever hook!!!! That would be a hell of a rush!!!! Just plain awesome!!
kinda looks like he's gotta be sanding down that p***enger side rear quarter panel on those launches.
the orange 58 was built by a HS cl***mate/friend in the central jersey area, he buils some great stuff, mostly 61-64 inpalas. also has a 58 vette, 57 t bird, 65 chevelle 2 door wagon, 31 vicky. still workin out a few "bugs" on the 58, but it will be seen making p***es locally this summer
the factory light weight specs on the delray is 3300 comparibly within about 100 lbs of all the tri fives.
There's a '58 sedan delivery sitting-in-the-weeds picture somewhere on the web I've seen. Probably right here on the HAMB, but I'm not sure. blue
