Brett Bodine in the Thomas Brothers Country Ham BGN car at Martinsville. This was the car which was virtually destroyed in a wreck at IRP that year, when Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Tommy Houston tangled coming out of the fourth turn and spun down the front straightway. I asked Brett how he got involved, and he said, "I was just coming out of the pits and this freight train ran right over me!"
I hope all of the stock car lovers here on the HAMB remember our little buddy that we all lost last month.
You're right, IndyBigJohn, since I believe Hull-Dobbs was headquartered in Memphis and at one time was the largest Ford dealer in the country with something like 8 locations -- I also believe at one time the one in Louisville was the largest of the group, and that's why I ***umed it was a Louisville car.
Thanks, Goober. I didn't know where they were headquartered, but I remember being interested the first time I saw them on that quarter-panel. Dog, I'm going to have to tell the guys on the Randy Ayres modeling site about your posts. They're always asking for help on colors.
ARCA (actually the last year as MARC) at Fort Wayne in 1963 - **** Dunlevy with Jack Bowsher working the inside...
Dig it! Wendell Scott (#34) getting ready to flat tow with his well-used 1955 Packard Clipper the '62 Chevy he bought used from Ned Jarrett (#11 in the other pic) in 1963. With this low budget operation (note "Mechanic - ME" lettering on front fender) he finished 15th in points!
