    Funny,
You could have a million "Rodders Journal" type of machines at a car show - and one crappy car. The crappy car is what everyone wants to remember - NOT the good stuff.
I guess its Human nature isn't it? Just like the person who does good in life and helps people, donates to charity, etc, but he/she does one bad thing and thats what they are remembered for.
Let me remind everyone that I have seen "questionable cars" at the Lone Star Round Up, Hunnert Car pile up, Billet Proof, Primer Nats, and even Paso, but we all know that the majority of the cars are cool. I aint sayin'g that i have personally been to all of those shows - but i've seen pictures posted.

And lastly, remember how the GNRS "SUEDE PALACE" used to look like before i took it over?

Look at it now ! Things have improved the past two years . Next year things will be completely different and back to where it should be.

Again, thanks to all that have supported us and the show over the years. Johnny Walker and Alex Gambino......well, you guys know what ya mean to me !

Thats awesome... I really need to make it down there next year.

Butch's polynesian clone is awesome. You couldn't have picked a classier car.

I had a great time at this show and I kept walking through the show and finding another car that caught my eye. The first time I went through I saw a couple of the shock rods and wondered what was going on but the more I looked the more I figured out that I was just seeing those cars because I was being shocked. After that initial walk through I found some of the best cars to look at I've seen in a while. The customs that were at the show were outstanding and I couldn't believe how many there were. I have never seen a show where the line to get in was that long ever anywhere in the country and it was there all day. The best vendors were there too and some of my favorite artists in person was a great bonus. All in all a really good time and I will be back.

  7. My point being that even in the Jalopy 40s and 50s world, there were and are cars that could be classified as ratrods. If in the 40s and 50s that term was around which I know was'nt. Maybe in your eyes you cant understand this but there were always some that couldn't afford the Edmunds heads, stombergs, chrome, buick or lincoln brakes etc even back then. They would build what they could. Hence the name Jalopy to some and hotrod to others and POS to even others. I have seen some 30s 40s 50s cars laying frame back in the 50s but in some areas this was unheard of. Sort of like the east coast style of no chop vs the west coast with the chop. Just because I'm from the west coast doesnt mean I dont think people never chopped their tops. It's all good!!!

A Rat Rod is now a piece of crap with barb wire welded to it and any other Autozone plastic crap they can bolt to it, no floor, parts purposely left in the rain or soaked in water to rust, unsafe, with NO thought of saftey or ingenuity. Jalopys are none of those things. They are usually well built hot rods; built on a strict budget. In fact alot of Jalopys take considerable Brain Power to pull off, not money. When the term Rat Rod was first coined it was a jalopy, IT HAS CHANGED in the past 5-7 yrs! And everyone knows it, except for you. Let it Go. Rat Rods arn't what this Hobby/lifestyle is about.

I'm done talking about this subject!

    Thanx for the Pix.

    Axle,
I had a really great time this year. There were plenty of parking spaces and tons of vendors. Some really really nice cars. I must of looked at the polyenisian for hours. He had it for sale too..I think he was looking for around 31k..Not bad for a full blown Kustom. The crowd seemed different this year too. Not to many tough guys or drunkards either. As far as I know there werent any fights this year either.
I thank you and the Shifters for putting this show on every year as there are practically no worth while shows here in Vegas.
The orleans was a very good choice for the car show. However I miss the feeling of the ballrooms at Gold Coast and especially miss the bouncing floor upstairs on Saturday night.:D:D
Thanks again, and cant wait till next year.

  13. Axle, You know me and what I have done. I do know what I am talking about. I know the work that goes into it. I was just saying that when you and I talked a little about this at last years show you said that this year all cars would have to be pre-registered with photo's to be accepted and you would have a way to ask people with questionable cars that showed up early and paid that you would have a way to refund them their car show money and ask them to park outside the show. The other threads with pics show a lot of scary looking stuff. You can run the show as you see fit. I was just a little confused because of our conversation last year. Squeak will be here later today and I will see what his thoughts our on the show. I do plan on attending next year but was unable to be there this year as I just started a new job. Thanks for all you do-Dale

You make valid points and at this point we'd rather offend a few dozen people with "questionable cars" than thousands with real cars. The future will be better - promise !

Why all the crying about what cars are there? How about the fact it is people trying to enjoy having an old car and to take it to a show and have some fun. This sounds as bad as all the Muscle Car & Billet crowd crying about numbers matching & bullshit like that. So a lot of you are saying if YOU don't like a car that is there, then it should not be allowed. What if it was YOUR car people were saying should not be there simply because they did not like it?

Take it for what it was........... A GOOD TIME !

    Alex,
There is no reason to defend yourself. Shifters are and have always been a class act who put together some of the best shows. There will always be SOMEONE who complains. Don't let it rattle ya. Keep on doing what you are doing.

I had fun. Overall, I thought the quality was up from last year and that group of cars from Colorado was killer.

Was our first time at the show and we had a great time! Its really good to see people acutally having a good time at a car show. Too many shows look like they should be filled with hearses that was certainly not the case here. People were having a great time and while we say "to each thier own" as far as taste in cars the event as a whole was well put together and had a really nice feel to it. Congrats to the Shifters see you next year!

Cash O'Riley was the best I saw, in my opinion.

  27. That's Kristabelle! She's a HAMB member too! She has a real traditional Pin-up look to her. I've got lots of pic's of her in my profile album "Lucky Bastard"...[IMG]

  28. DAMN, now I get to live in fear for week or so............. Yancey, it was great to see you, wish we could have hung out together more. Ya gotta tell tell me about the extra curricular activities more than 30 seconds in advance mi amigo. Not sure about Indy yet but I want to be there.

    Johnnie.

  29. Marcy,

Thanks so much ! It's nice to know somebody noticed the effort. It was an undertaking to wrangle that many folks, and I'm sure some Lonely Knights will tell you I was twisting their arms to go, a bit hard. Oh well, we ended up with 15 cars and 30 people, so the twisting paid dividends. Everybody had a great time, as usual. Thanks Shifters !

    Thanks again, Johnnie.
