Plowboy is bouncing through Arkansas right now on a brand new but out-of round Coker tire. He'll be lookin to shave and balance that once he hits town.

    Thanks

There's a truck shop in San Antonio that does tire shaving. I can get the info tomorrow. But a healthy burnout always works for me. ;)

Tire shaving......(?) WTF? I have never heard of it. If its a coker tire ...can't it be replaced?

    Sounds dangerous to me.

Of course just because I haven't heard of it doesnt mean beans.

Thanks, I figured a truck shop would be the best bet.

I'm sure Plowboy will talk to Coker but I also think he'd like a more comfortable ride home first.

Not that uncommon and not dangerous...haha
Most often used on bigger truck tires.

  12. just about every set of cokers we put on we take em to or suggest to the customer to take it over to nate jones (cowboy tire) in signal hill. it is definitely night and day on a set of those tires.

  14. yup, folks used to spin and shave the bigger truck tires, I guess now a days, technology is better and there isn't a huge need anymore, just a guess on my part though.

Yeah, they stand behind their ribbed dirt trackers........they mounted and gave me a brand new pair when I complained about them being out of round.........and, guess what? That's right boys and girls......the second set were also out of round and I finally gave up on them and went for a full set of their Classic Blackwall Radials, which look a lot like bias ply........an expensive set of tawrs, but they solved the problem/

After all the years now that Coker has been selling the ribbed dirt trakers wouldn't you think they could get the damn things round?? This is not rocket science........they should be round!!!

I am very distressed to hear that the problem persists......

I,m pretty sure walker tire still has their tire shaver stashed back in the shop. They dont offer the service to the public but you may be able to talk them into it. Call and talk to roy, wayne or mickey and tell em gabe told you. That way they have someone to cuss at!

Tell Aaron to just do a shitload of burnouts, then put the fronts on the back and do a shitload more burnouts, and then the problem is solved. I have ribbed dirt trackers on the front and 7.50x16s on the rear, and all four were round as hell out of the box. Never had a problem. Luck?

My daily (Modified Dodge Dually Diesel) has worn out front suspension. Costs too much to fix, so I just keep driving it. When the front tires start to get all wonky, I do a switcharoo and toss them on the rears as singles then do a couple of 3rd gear burnouts. Put them back up front and keep on truckin. 45,000 miles on the front tires so far, 70,000 & counting for the rears and they still look great!

I tried to jump through the hoops to get "their" bias ply tires to work. I ended up deciding to wait until they redo their molds, manufacture them in the U.S., and everyone and I mean everyone says "their" tires are 100% O.K.

I don't know if i'm mad, or if I just think the situation is a joke.

I hear you and I think we are essentially in agreement........just didn't understand which direction you were coming from.....it's about time tat Coker got these tires *right*........too many guys are having the same problems with them over an over.......they should not have to be shaved......
