"Billetproof"??? Ocala, Fl.

I'm a writer for a rat magazine and I attended The Billetproof show in Ocala this year. I thought the show was pretty dam good for being only the 2nd time around. Kudos to PoorBoys and Alan for a good show. However while wondering around, I heard more than a few complaints about (and definitely saw) a few cars loaded up with billet parts. I also heard from a few participants, that non billet cars were turned away at the gate for lack of room. I'm not trying to stomp on anybody's toes but I did not actually see any cars get turned away, only rumors of that action. If it did actually happen and before I step on my own Thang, I want to hear some specifics. Namely...names. If you got turned away at the gate with a billet free car. Now is your chance to voice it. If I don't hear from anyone I'll have to assume it was all just talk and everyone who attempted to get access -billet or not- got into the show. If you would prefer to remain anonymous send me a private message. Anyone?

So you'll just assume that if no one answers your request that people were lying. This is one post in one place. What are the chances of those people coming across this thread?

What a ridiculous request. So you are already set on writing a negative article? You don't have proof either way, so you'll just make up your own facts?

who cares if they got turned away, rules are rules. Dont bend them for some billet on a car if the title is BILLETPROOF.

No one here cares for billet built cars either.

I'm doing a story on big foot and I need to know who can definitively prove that he does not exist. If no one responds to this post I will assume that he does and that the lack of response is proof.

 

I saw Bigfoot driving a Boydster- he was turned away at the gate.

 

The rules don't get bent, things just get overlooked. Try inspecting all those cars rolling in with everything else going on and trying to get them off the road and out of traffic.

Like I always said if you are complaining about 20 cars you didn't like at the event I take it as a compliment because you liked the other 1180. Your welcome.

 

PS- I tried the "Anonymous Journalist" thing like 9 years ago when there was only a few members- and it didn't work then. You will get you head back on a stick if you keep this up.

 

Go do your investigation somewhere else. Dont come here looking for names to prove some kind of angle for your mag article. On the other hand if you need info on traditional style hotrods, welcome. And Post an intro.

Yes, I did get turned away and my wife and I were very upset. If there is anything you can do about it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I do admit to using some billet parts in my pride-n-joy, but they were all covered by grey felt, so it shouldn't matter!!!!

Apologies to all whom I may offended. That was certainly not my intention. I have already explained to one of the PoorBoys in a personal message, that I am not trying to bash the car show. I thought it was a good show and that's what I plan to write about. I did however hear many complaints from the guys participating about the Street rod presence at a Billetfree show. Yes, I did cover that event for Rebel Rodz and as such , I want to do proper justice to all. The promoters as well as the participants. Alan and The Poorboys did a bang up job on the show and I have no intentions to bash the show. But, if guys did get turned away, don't you think it's fair to them to at least mention it? I thought this forum would be the perfect place to get to the bottom of the rumors and get the straight story. Was I wrong? If so, my apologies again. I've also placed a call to Alan's voice mail but have yet to hear back.

If the magazine was Rebel Rods...that is the worst car magazine on the face of the planet with the most unknowlegeable people working for it as well. I wasted my money once on it and used it after that to wipe my ass!

Rebel Rodz is the worst...First issue they had a buddies very very nice 1929 Ford Sedan on the cover and they called it a 1929 Chevy sedan... Every issue gets worse!!! Maybe Old Skool Rodzs and Rebel Rodz can merge and it can be called

"Unsafe Mostly Crappy Orca Bettiez & Tuffabillys Old Skool Rodzs & Kutomzs" TM.
