A few weeks ago I answered an ad on Craigslist for a '46 Ford panel truck. The guy on the phone was real easy to talk to, he told me he was 70 and his projects were going to out live him. He was a Ford collector his whole life said he loved flat heads, so i took the chance and drove 240 miles to check out his stash. This is what he had
He's asking $5500 for this '53 said it had an Isky Cam. Pretty clean car I'm not sure when he put it together but it was pretty 50's period correct
When I asked him how much he wanted for the T i caught him off gaurd and he couldn't come up with a price
He has a whole bunch of stuff all over his property. Heavy trucks, doodle bugs, home made tractors from the 30's and 40's. he also has a '28-'29 A Tudor running with a ***le in another barn i forgot to get pics of. I think he was asking $3500
He made this by hand in his shop decked out with Blacksmith/machining tools from the late 1800-1960's He said he made every piece of this hot air engine except the stand
When I asked him how much for the A he said it wasn't for sale. It's the car his grandpa bought that he took his driver's liscense test in in '54. He's saving it for his grandkid. This is what followed me home He has had it 27 years and done a few things to it. I need to go up there in a month when the ice melts to get the front clip. It was frozen into the ground. If anyone is interested in anything he has for sale, PM me and I'll get you his information.
Ditto on the helmet, I want that thing! I'll be the terror of the neighborhood! Way cool on him for making that
When I see the prices paid down here in OZ for **** bought in from the USA , and then see the asking money for the 53 and the A (you didn't get a pic of ) I could spit...those prices are really cheap and if anyone *****es over the price on the tudor they want their *** kicked. I wanted to buy one just like this when I about 16,($350) but it wouldn't fire so I didn't bother ...duh. Most of them down this part of the world were ex Army and had a porthole in the roof so a gunner could sit up there and shoot bad guys.
It would be another $1,000-$1400 to ship from Minnesota to Cali. I talked with Mark (mark in japan) about getting cars over to OZ last year seemed like alot of $$$ to get started.....
this dude has some cooool stuff , the old engine is way cool that helmet is Art work , and the vehicles are treasure , good score on the panel truck
That is some cool stuff. I need that A cowl. Some BBC, Hemi or 514Ford shoehorned in that Tieyotie would be pretty cool.
