My Buddy who is Bullet Man here on the HAMB has a huge set-up at Carlisle swapmeet.
He just called to say he was robbed last night.

He is a official Moon dealer and they stole...

All his Moon tanks, fenton intakes, caddy aircleaners, moon tachs, Moon tank gas caps, Moon 3-gauge clusters etc...

Please be on the lookout for stuff like this, and if you see it, he's at space D-35
And his cell number is 412-389-5964

He will reward you if they are caught.

    Thank you.

That really blows. I have this worry everytime I set up a both at a swapmeet. I have never been, but I understand Carlisle is huge, I doubt there's any amount of security during off hours that would be a deterrent,

Good luck to your buddy, and watch eBay closely.

He may want to alert the PD (I'm sure he did) and a fairly wide scope of scrap dealers.

With people out of work, aluminum scrap is a quick way to make a buck.

More that likely this is where that stuff is going. He'd be foolish to try and sell brand new stuff like that without documentation to back it up. Quick way to get caught I'd assume.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this. Sam and his wife are good people.

I hope whoever did this is caught and given the max sentence.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye out for it.

That was my first thought, but how much does an empty Moon tank weigh? 3 lbs? They'd bring like $1 each at the scrap yard. Even if the guy had a huge display of them, 15 tanks are only going to be worth $15. Plus with the other stuff that got taken?

Seems more likely to me that some moron took it all to resell but I can't imagine what their plan to resell it is.

That's really awful, I sure hope they get caught.

    True:

Yeah, I guess I was thinking more the average weight of all of that stuff. Yeah, Moon tanks do weigh nothing. Good point.

    Sucks nonetheless.

Boy am I getting tired of typing this. A thief needs to have his hands removed. I think it's India that uses this method. First time, lose one hand. Second time lose the other. Third time you loose your life. Harsh, you bet, but it's very easy to identify a thief and if he persists you don't have to deal with him. Problem solved.

F-n scumbags oughta have their hands cut off. You can't trust anybody anymore it seems. Too many people out of work, or just plain thieving bastards that know what the stuff is worth and looking for the quick score. I hope the stuff is recovered and the assholes caught and beaten. Anything like that shows up around here for sale with the shows starting here soon ,I'll let you know

  18. Hell, it could even have been another vendor who took it, some guys camp out overnight, some guys go to the hotel...

As for the stuff, either it will turn up someplace like ebay or craigslist one at a time or as a big "wholesale lot" ... if that happens you might get lucky. If the thief is a vendor and doesn't want to get caught, though, the stuff will turn up like one or two pieces at a time at other shows and unless you happen to have serial numbers for any of the stuff you'll never track it down.

I wouldnt doubt it was another vendor. A few tanks sold at another swap meet here or there a few on ebay a few traded. They dont have anything in them they can set on them.
I get pissed of over shit like this these ass hats need the shotgun put to them and left laying to bleed out. Sorry but thats how I feel.

It almost has to be another vendor, and probably close by ,with an enclosed trailer, pick up, or a camper. thou shall not steal.

Actually aluminum scrap is way down right now. Not trying o be a jerk, but it might help focus resources.

I hope this is one of those stories that ends with the stuff found.

With the economy what it is right now this sort of shit is on the rise and happening every day. Race cars and trailers are being ripped off every day in the Houston and surrounding area. Its a shame this happens but about all you can do to prevent yourself from becoming a victim is lock it all down and be aware that the thief's are out in force now.

Me, I would bet its another vendor. From what i gather, you cannot get in and out of the grounds after a certain time. And it happened between midnite and 6am.

He has a huge rented tent, with zipper and velcro doors. There has to be more than one person, because noway one guy carried all that big ticket stuff alone.

The guy up the isle who sells repop camaro stuff got hit hard too.

And the grounds won't announce it over the speakers:mad: Guess they dont wanna scare off the other vendors.

Sam and the Camaro guy each are offering 1000. each as reward, so 2000 to the honest guy who finds the goods and the dicks who stole it.

Grumpy, I'll be looking tommorow. Several years ago my Carlisle buddy and I noticed there were lots of Corvette body parts at Carlisle. Red front clips in this row, red back clips in that row, interiors in another. It was a pretty big ring. I think the cars were stolen in the Chicago area, stripped, and brought here within a week. Thieves suck!!

Another vender, thats a good thought, they are already there with a whole lot of parts, and you know people at big shows sell the same stuff at different booths. Thats where I would look. That sucks.

  28. When I worked at Eastwood, we hired armed, private guards. The only thing we ever lost was our big blimp shaped balloon that some one cut the cable on during the day!!! It was found in a ladies back yard in West Chester, PA, about 3 miles from the store in Malvern, PA and 90 miles from Carlisle. Go figure!!!

  29. Yup, pickup load of cans this week netted $10 it is around .20/lb

  30. Didn't this same kind of thing happen last year at Spring Carlisle? Seems I remember a post similar to this. Carlisle is on the decline anyway. Management needs to step up the security or risk having more and more vendors stay home and sell their stuff on the internet. Hate to see it happen as I always enjoy going.
