Got quite far in the last couple of weeks. It's now a roller!

Got all my suspension mounts done, built the radus rods, drilled the axle, etc. etc. Also made the exhaust mounts and I'm waiting on the J bends so I can get the header done. Hopefully they'll arrive on Monday.

I now have to move on to the steering, pedals and get busy on desiging the cantilevered shocks. I also plan on ordering my quick change from Spadaro this week.

Forgot to ask... do you plan a fuel tank out back?

Because, on the lighter side, I was thinking that if the rear of the*****pit was hinged and folded back over the diff in some fashion, you could "man-up" by steping over the diff to be seated and then pull the rear body work up behind you after you are seated! LOL? Gary

Yes, a gas tank above the rear spring perch. I've been having touble making up my mind on what I want it to look like. The tonneau hinges on the right side.

    Thanks for the comments guys!

Really nice package. The proportions are quite different from what we usually see here. Care to tell us the hows and whys of the design process? Such as, why so high in the back? Or is the seating position exagerating things?

Rather than just a round or oval tank, how about something more aero, or blended into the back? Didn't Little John's last modified have something like that? Gary

The design started with a sketch, followed by a lot "eye ball engineering". The body does taper up to accomodate the driver, I wanted my shoulders to be positioned below the tonneau cover. The side image may exagerate this.

This is the third modified I've built; with each one getting more race car like, in how it was constructed. The first one, which was owned by Cruzer (HAMB ID) The LA Special, was then followed by the Ace of Spades.

I agree with this. Make it fit the unique look of the body. I love it!

Now THAT is a cute little dune buggy. And I mean that in the best possible way. Congrats on having the courage to go out on a limb and the skill to pull it off.

That's a pretty neat build, I missed it until now. Reminds me of the automotive version a GeeBee aero racer from the 30s.

Sweet puddle jumper! looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

I envision it crossed up like a Sprint Car on a dirt oval.

  28. Rich, I'm really proud of you brother. You are one hell of a fabricator and builder.
