Good stuff Scott! I'm very excited to read the article. I hope the SoCal story gets told as well. In addition to Rick's Impala, there's another Los Boulevardos car currently getting the Ted Wells touch. :)

Awesome thread, sounds like I need to pick up the new Garage. I have had several juiced and bagged rides over the years. I like them both, but my heart is with the juice. If you set them up right, they ride just as good as bags and you just got to love the sound of the motors spinning when you hit the switch. Zzziiiitttt....zzziiittt!!! I am picking up a 37 Dodge next week and really thinking that the old Red's setup I have on the shelf in the garage, sure would look good on it.

Just don't carry the same logic you have regarding suspensions into engines and put a small block Chevy in your Caddy... :D

This thread is all about hydraulics.

However, if you wanna-b "ole skool" you definitely want airbagz on your lowriderz.

the pictures you all have listed makes me realize that someone is sitting on alot of history... haha, i always dug the setup in anthony fuentez' 63 imp, i used to work for CCE hydraulics, hydraulics definately have a deeper history than airride does, i have installed both hydraulics and airride, and owned vehicles with both, theres a place and time to use each one, hydraulics are far more versatile.

about 2 G's,give or take.I have about $1500 in what you see in the pic. There is still cylinders(available)hoses and the Equalizer($200-$400).

My setup is a 1 pump/2 dump.....most out there are 2 pump/2 or four dump setups. There is a few 3 and 4 pump setups out there but its defeats the purpose of using the old stuff IMO.Back in the day,you either had one or two pump setups.Im not a big fan of the super shiny stuff either,I like the chrome accents and what not but when its all chrome/polished it is just too much.

Whats the ride quality difference between hydros compaired to airbags, alot of people I have talk to say you have to sacrifice ride quality when you opt for hydros instead of airbags. Anybody had experience with both and can shed light on that...Scott?

whats wrong with oil?Your engine does not run without it,as long as its on the inside of the engine.I know alot of people are sour with hydraulics because they have had hack jobs.Ill be the first to admit it,75% of the so called installers are hacks......

yeah pretty basic, only know of one guy that has one installed currently.Typically when running 1 pump the rear of the car will lift first because its lighter then the front comes up.When you run AC 3 port valves(dumps) you can set it up where you can raise them individually. The second valve from the right is no longer used to lower the car but to control where the fluid goes, thats why is backwards.

I've driven and ridden in both. That said, i've only really built airbag setups myself. The Cadillac is going to be the first car i lift myself.

From my experience, the biggest thing that makes a difference is the skill of the installation. In airbags, the bag height is key because otherwise it'll ride like **** at ride height. Same goes with hydraulics, except what means a lot is how you set up the springs.

That said, i believe a well setup air bagged car will ride better than the lifted car. Perhaps there are people who know better who can show me wrong though....
