Do it yourself. With patience and a hand held sand blaster you can cut it easily.

  3. The used to be a guy named Regan with PDQ autoglass that said he could get it done. Haven't talked to him in years, so not sure if her is still around.

Can someone explain this process? I've heard using a vertical mounted belt grinder but not sand blasting.

I cut my own with a pressure sand blaster. If you need assistance, just ask. Really, its not very hard and its just as easy for the "PRO's to break them as it is for you!

I'd say to go with the sandblaster as well, it's time consuming but pretty much fool proof. Just put a cardboard pattern down (with a bit of duct tape on the edge) and slowly etch a line in the glass until you get to the lamanent in the middle, flip and repeat.

Just make sure you keep the gun moving, keeping it still or going too slow will build up enough heat to crack the glass.

Make sure you polish the edge with a belt sander to keep the window from cracking once it's installed. Use silicon carbide sand paper, glass is hard and any other paper will wear out quickly.

Keep the sander moving so you don't build up too much heat and crack the glass, having a spray bottle handy helps.

    Good luck.

Not as much as he use to but wiil still do some.I think he got burnt out on kustoms doing full builds. He works by himself and kustoms are alot of work. Easy to get burned out. To me he's one of my biggest inspirations, talent, work ethic, and the way he lives his life and I'm proud to call him a friend.

  19. As a fall back you can call Deep Ellum Auto Glass, Rober Merrill 214-712-0000. He cut the side glass for my 36 truck and gave me a tutorial on how to cut down windshields while I was there.......no charge for the knowledge impacted...He does a lot of rod glass
