Great Photo Bullet Nose. Yeah that is a Dean Jeffrey's pinstriping. I'm not sure why he did those on so many cars. To me they take away from the wonderful lines of the cars. Like 00MACK said I never understood why you would do this after spending so much time and money to get a car so clean. Barry Mazza photo shows the car with no striping... so much Better. Yes I agree,that striping had no business on those cars,thats just what I think.I get asked a lot " Are you going to lay some sick stripes on your merc???" Most people just dont get it. These cars looks so much better without all the striping.

I guess it was the time and the period,by these mid to late 50's pics were taken the cool thing was to stripe the shit out of your car,even if it looks hideous.

Merton Peterson's 1950 Sectioned coupe. The folowing two photos where found on a ended ebay acution. The car is Don Britton's 1950 Ford built by a very young Sam Foose and Chuck Calvin.
WOW!! Neil Emory did some serious untouchable metal work. This shoebox is just gorgeous with that merc grill.
Although this 41 Ford really isn't much of a "custom", it's another tail dragger that I took a photo of at the 1956-57 show that was held at El Camino College in the Torrance/Gardena area.
Well, here's a clue. I was driving this in my senior year at Redondo Union High School in 1957 ..... I didn't attend many shows and mostly took slides because they were cheaper to develop. I may have an album stored away in my garage with the "little pages" magazines I've saved. Bill

Thanks for your comment. There isn't a better sounding exhaust than a 6 banger with a split maniford and glass packs and when I hear one rapping those pipes, it still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

The Valley Custom Shop built this 1939 Mercury convertible with 1940 Merc front end for Glen Hooker (family of the Valley people) The running boards where removed, and the fenders where cut from the bottom to be level with the body. Ed Jacques 41 Ford is so sweet. Its in a old Hop-Up magazine, thats where I saw it first. It had a breakdown of how much everything cost to customize it. No air bags or lifts on this thing. California must have had nice roads back then.
