Well put Rick! None of these critics realize the good deed Andy M did,by recognizing that it was too much of a project for his own situation. That prevented it from becoming a resident of another garage for another long time period with no progress. Thanks Andy M,you've done the "car" world proud. D. Finch.
Definately an awesome story & find! Now only if I could do that... I think everyone needs to take a page from Andy's book about documenting a good find with photos becauce he did a great job. Thats what I love about digital cameras, just snap away & delete the crappy ones later
Thanks for of the kind words. To the guys who want to make a movie out of this, please tell me how to film the locker room sceanes of a bunch of old, naked men that would embare-ass even the most hardened convict. I have gotten pretty good at posting pics from photobucket, so thanks again for the comments about documentation. Believe me, I was truely excited to be a part of this. I will do my best to keep up with what hapens next. Andy
Lucky man, Thanks for sharing your find with us! Keep us updated over the years and months. Wow! is all I can say.
Keep us posted Andy, the "Saga" has just begun!............( and the HAMB really is a great place to be, good guys out number the a-holes by a wide margin!)
Thanks for your HARD work in getting this story to this site !!!! NICE JOB WITH THE PICTURES TOO! HOPE THE BUYER SAVED THE SWEEPINGS AS MOST OF THE ORIGINAL FRAME HORNS APPEARS TO BEIN THERE! WE DID NOT SEE THE ORIGINAL OWNER IN THE PICS DID WE? HELP! SOME ONE IDENTIFY THOSE ARTILLERY WHEELS PLEASE! HEY 3WLARRY THERE IS ALL THOSE ODD PIECES YOU WERE LOOKING FOR ! MY TUDOR LOOKs PRETTY GOOD NOW! .. So I'll brazenly ask what was the fee for clearing this from the garage?
Hi and welcome, Andy. Great coverage on the find and retrieval. My compliments on your decision to pass the '32 on to someone who would do right by it.
Answers to some questions. 1. I do not know what Dave paid for this find. Due to the amount of unexpected rust, IMO it was too much. However, they did shake hands and a deal is a deal. 2. My finders fee is that Dave will tune up my Camaro when I get it out of storeage. I don't want any cash from my friends unless it was part of the deal, which it wasn't. As some of you guys were so kind to point out, I got it to go to a good home. 3. Ed is very camera shy, and did not want his picture taken. However, since he doesn't own a computer, he's the guy in the Carhart jacket. 4. Ed said that those were Pontiac artillary wheels. Good catch.
Seeing this find just gives me the chills, knowing how long thats been in that garage and everything else. Just wow
The roof of that garage must of leaked for many years as the 32 looks like it has sat outside, actually it might have been in better shape if it sat outside since the garage held in the moisture with all the junk piled around it. I wish I can find a 32 and even in that shape since all the the needed parts can be bought but I will never have the money for one of them.
Hey Andy, have you seen the #s of views on this thread of yours? wow Thanks again for your effort and fantastic coverage and documentation to share this with us!! lots of folks are Living vicariously thru this. That sceen you speak of would be in the deleted sceens, on the cutting room floor next to the soap . This story has all the makings for a bitchen movie. Its the stuff dreams are made of. Photobucket is pretty easy, but scares me. If you pics are moved, change in photo support, these pics will be red X-s. If PhotoBucket ever folds, well extremely valuable all over the HAMB will be lost.
Great job Andy! I would have loved to be included to clean out the garage & help roll that history out of there. Did it once- on a 40 Ford that was inside for 30 years. It's something you will never forget. A 32 3 window- holy shit! I wonder how many hot rodders lived nearby & never knew that 32 was parked right under their noses! Makes me want to look at every garage now- thinking there's a treasure in there.
Great story and pictures Andy. Just to clarify, the new owner Dave plans to bring this car back to life as in build something from what we see here?
Hey Andy , Your a stand up Guy , and it looks like you did the right thing all things considered. (not able to take on a project of that magnitude right now) I just hope you don't kick yourself in years to come. Nice Camero by the way ,I looked for a nice one of those a few yrs.back and found out just how desireable they $$ are. Thanks for sharing your find with the rest of us.
Well folks, the project has started. These pics were taken with a cell phone, so they are not of the best quality. The body has been cleaned up significantly, most of the rusted out places have been cut off, and it looks like a lot of work has been done.
The knob looking thing in the middle of the dash is a factory option cigar lighter. Sorry to say, there is nothing behind the glove box door, so no hidden treasure in there.
A new custom frame is being made for the body to sit on. A new floor is waiting to get welded in, and a new front end as well. The plan now is to stretch things out a little, add a SBC motor, specs to come later, mated to a 5 speedTremec. The fire wall is rust free, thank God. No way will they mess with the coolest part of the car, that classic Deuce Coupe roof line with a rumble seat.
