Wow,where did you get this last one??? These are Midgets and need to be shown over in the Vintage Sprint car thread. The guys over there would love this one!
Dave Mewhorter was due to drive this car at Daytona in '72, however due to the NASCAR rule change outlawing the hemi, the car was then converted for dirt track racing.
Opening day 1973, at Albuquerque, didn't go well for Jim Crawley as he hit the wall hard! The car was fixed and back out a couple of weeks later!
Victoria, BC, car. Owned by Jim Haslam, driven by Billy Foster circa 1962. Interesting names on the truck trailer. Ed Kostenuk raced "big cars" at Langford Speedway (Victoria, BC) and other Pacific northwest tracks ending up racing champ cars with USAC for a while (rookie Johnny Rutherford qualified the Kostenuk car for the Indy 500 in 1963). Gary Kershaw raced at Western Speedway in the super stocks. Won a big race down in Riverside, CA, Permatex 200 (?) around 1971. Surprised everyone down there. Victoria, BC, was one of those "overachiever" places.
Ray Pottinger of Nanaimo, BC, from two different eras. Early 1960s in the b&w photo (2nd from right) and 1980s with an Old Time Racing ***ociation car (the 1950s/early 1960s rebuilt for show and go, and they're still going in 2009!). Pottinger is featured here as are a lot of Victoria/Vancouver Island oval racers.
