Dupli color works pretty good if you just need blue, red, silver, etc.

someone posted on here (or on jockey journal) a while back about some gold flake paint in a can and how it could be bought at walmart. I have searched numerous walmarts and check other hardware type places but have never found it.

can't wait to see how the 4 part stuff works. I have some small parts to do and well even thought I was the person who cleared all my friends wood shop projects in jr. high and high school...i just bought a cheepo spray gun and talk about failing...i could not get a decent spray out of it for the life of me.

Rustoleum has some decent flake paint but not a whole lot of color selection. It wasn't super fat ***ed flake but good sized.

Check out some of the model car paint at your local hobby shop. There are many types of paints and most are enamels that produce a real nice shine. I use candies and pearls for my models all the time and could see lots of applications on real cars for interior parts. Airbrushing allows you to mix color and control application for smaller items. There are many flake colors available too. Most are available in rattle cans too. Just remember to apply the paint in multiple thin coats to achieve the best coverage and the best color depth. Use a silver base for the metal flake for depth too just like on a car paint job.

  19. I used the Rustoleum on my '54 (gravel pan). I was regretting it until I put the clear over it. It still looks good after 3 years outside. Like stated above, it's not a real heavy flake but it does sparkle. I probably used the better part of two cans for approx. 6 sq. ft of surface. I'll post a pic in the am if the sun is shining.

I did this dash with the duplicolor blue and this engine as well. Not sure how long it would last since I sold the project soon after, but it came out nice.

It's not metalflake, like you see on roofs, it is more of very heavy metallic color.

I looked all over Seymour's site and couldn't find any metalflake. I did, however, learn they invented aerosol spray paint.

Plastic-kote makes a metal flake spray bomb in a lot of colors. I'm using the green on the interior of my 57 Merc hardtop wagon. It matches the metallic green vinyl seats/ door panels like they were made for each other. Nobody near me carried the seymour paint, so I special ordered a case of the green from my parts house --Mt. Kisco Truck parts -- they're great !!!

I'm looking to do the lower part of my dash on the Plymouth in metalflake, as well. It was mentioned that two cans of each pretty much do the job on a dash, so that looks like it's a day job on the dash, tops! Worst thing that can happen is that I have to do it again, right? Gotta give this a shot next weekend.

I want to know how well this works and how much it covers. Is someone going to try it out before I spend the cash to get them?

I think Mr. Alex over at Gambinos will be sending me a complete kit. I intend on using the complete kit on items until i am finished.I am a paint contractor buy trade so i see no problems with not screwing up the products and should be able to get a fairly accurate ideal of how much coverage to get out of a kit. I will put up a thread of what the results are when i am finished with photos

  28. Is there a website where we can get our hands on this?
