I can see where it would be good for things that can't be dipped.

  8. The SpectraChrome place is right around the corner from me... My plan was to act all gung ho about starting my own business, and bring in my Ford Garnish mouldings ready to paint, and see if they'll "demonstrate" the process to me. :)

We looked in to this a few years ago, nice stuff.
You can call, or email and tell them your interested in purchasing the equipment, and want to see samples.
they will send out an info packet with 3-4 samples for FREE!

this system kills Alsa spray on chrome

If cleared, this is good stuff...I have had a couple things done at a local shop the sprays Spectrchrome. The neatest thing about this is it can go on anything that can be painted. I have had some auto-related home-made furniture (wood, fiberglass) and then I cleared it myself. Looks awesome and wears well, even in a game room.

  13. $2500-$7600 just for the equipment.
    Yowza!

Although $2-$3 per sq-ft doesn't look too bad.

I have used the ALSA stuff at work and was not impressed. It looked OK but not like "CHROME"

  15. Guy next to my shop in the 80's had something like that and did the gold and chrome on the starwars stuff. he did all my interior plastic parts when i did a resto. works pretty good but only as good as the guy doing it.

A couple of weeks ago, a guy I know at a local swapmeet told me he was considering buying this setup. He showed me a sample piece that he had painted, itlooked pretty damn good, I had to do a double take. I've seen and tried Alsa, etc., they didn't have this same effect. But as said it could be experience of the painter.

looks great, but even with the crap chrome they use today its not even close to as durable. good for trim pieces though, like ornaments and such, especially the really pitted ones cuz you can use bondo to fill all the damage

If someone is doing a showrod that needs a chrome frame, this would be the way to do it.
