Hi all just though I would post some pics of my project truck. Its a 1942 Ford Coe sitting on a 1981 Chev c30 chassis with 350 chev mounted behind the cab. The trucks located in Australia and they are as rare as rocking horse***** down here.

My question for the ones that have done this conversion is. What springs did you use on the front as after moving the engine back mine is sitting really high? Any help much appreciated

There used to be one of these at Pilson(Blondies)Auto Parts out of Stuart, Virgina. We checked out, looking for a Canadian block flathead. Don't know if it's still there though.

Looks great! It looks pretty close to the right height to me but the aftermarket has everything from shorter springs to dropped spindles and lowered bottom A-frames to drop it more. Check the ads in Truckin Magazine for suppliers like Bell Tech. You could also look at the front coils from C-20 3/4 ton or even C-10 1/2 ton trucks because I'm pretty sure they are interchangable. Do yo have any pics from under your cab of how you mounted your body on the frame. I'm doing the exact same thing and I would like to see how you did it.

Not always. The ford probably had the big lincoln V8 in it. My dad worked at a shop where they had a new '57 GMC tow truck with a '57 pontiac V8 in it right from GMC, I'm sure it wasn't uncommon for them to do this.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I do think it will come down more when the backs built and all the final weight is on but i was more worried about ride quality and corect function of suspension as there will still not be as much weight over the front wheels as befor as for ride height i will be changing that with some bell tech drop spindles 3" and a change in tire.

AS for the body mounts the rear body factory mount almost lined up pefectly with the c30 body mounts just some new holes a bit of nolathane and bolt it up. The front was a little different but after cutting off the front horns of the chassis a littlke we manage to get the front body mounts in quiet easily as well. I hope you can see in the photos where i have mounted and what we have done.

Wow Cool Thread. I guess I must say I do not think they ever made an Ugly COE. They are all cool. Just by the way they sit.

WOW! I finally got another '47 Ford COE home that I bought a few months ago from a cell phone pic the owner sent me. It was just 120 miles away in Kimball, SD which happens to be where my Dad grew up in the dirty thirties. Anyway I found out about it from a truck driver who works for the trucking company that hauled my rusty Ebay :( ripoff POS from North Carolina. He had spotted it when he delivered a front end loader to the guys farm and could see this one was pretty nice. The cab was just sitting in the tree belt in the dirt. Now I have three of the old girls (I think I have a COE addiction...:D) but will only need one to build. The rusty one goes up for sale for parts and pieces next week. Maybe someone can use something out of it or else it will go to the crusher. Next I'll have to decide to use this one or the red one that I bought out of Montana.

I saw that post of the COE Fiberglass front end. There was a Guy in Carlisle Show a few weeks ago. With them on a wagon trying to sell some.

    Copy
Interesting pictures on "can we start..." page12 #235:
Is the picture on right (pink coe) HAMB #235 art or real?
If for real, were you able to determine the year & make of COE.
    Thanks
