Cruising returns to Van Nuys Blvd

I know council member Tony Cardenas. Van Nuys is his area. I've worked with his field deputies. If you guys want i can talk to him about it..and get his feedback. See what he thinks?? You guys let me know if i should say anything.

back in 93 a council man came to our valley car club council meeting and he ask us for our votes and he said that in return he would help us out on keeping laurel canyon open for us to cruise on sundays! guess what happened when he got elected! HE WAS THE MOTHER FUCKER THAT PUT UP THE NO CRUISING SIGNS ON LAUREL CANYON, SEPULVEDA AND RENALDI

 

I agree we should be visible. But, if enough of us show to make it successful, there's no one place to park all of us ON the blvd. We gotta start somewhere, and that lot's as good a place as any. We can always modify it after scoping things out on the 10th. Elrobo, you should get me some flyers to pass out to the "early" crowd at Bob's next week

 

yea im gonna try to get out there earlier friday... that was the plan last week but a bunch of last minute stuff came up.

 

i hate work rite now... so i figured i'd bring this back to the top since it makes me happy... lol

The meeting place was the Hughes parking lot back in the day and the L.A. County Street Racers used that lot as their club area. I was a box boy there and would park my car in the section by van Nuys blvd. and put my colors on when I went outside to collect the shopping carts..damn I was such a nerd...oh wait, we called them Spaz at the time.

 

Is this going to be every Wed. or just a one time thing? We will be there on vacation the 15th through the 19th. When is the Bobs Big Boy cruise? Thanks.

 

Not sure about the Van Nuys deal, but Bob's big boy in Taluca Lake cruz is every Friday night

 

we hope it will be a weekly thing. it will go on as long as people are there to support.

bob's is every friday people start showing up as early as 2pm the late crowd stays until around 11pm

Well, plans changed, we will be there on the 24th and see if anyone shows up.The sad part is we'll be in a rental, not a rod.

 

But rental cars are better than regular cars...They go over curbs better and faster, run longer without oil or water and are easily returned....Ever see "Jack Ass the Movie" ?

 

Hell, I'll be there in my NON-HAMB Mach 1! Just the shiznit for remembering those glory days. Groucho loves my Mach 1, but he won't admit it, at least not HERE. Hell, Groucho, I'll run next door to 4'n'20 and got you a pie, brother. Apple or Boston Cream?

 

Plus, rental cars are always good for testing those "What ifs", like "what if you throw it reverse at 25?". Either that, or the Squadron Duty truck (I worked mid-check a lot of nights in the Navy...you get bored)

 

I'll be there with my friend Greg Jacobsen who has been my close friend since 11th grade Auto Shop. We were there on the Blvd. when they put out the barricades. Pretty sad day. We were 16 then.

 

I'll admit liking the Mach I here or any where else. I love Muscle Cars. Always have, always will. I'm 54 now. This puts me in my early "teens" in the late 60's. So, Muscle Cars were huge when I was at a very influential age. Muscle Cars and 60's Drag Race cars were "the shit" for me as a kid

sorry groucho... i WAS going to try to get out there yesterday.... but my car decided not to cooperate... now i gotta figure out whats wrong with it... it was doing the same last year... took it to some guy that charged me a hundred bucks and didnt look like he did much to it and had it working... said there were to wires touching or sumthin???.... anyway
