Anyone have pics of an open 4 door car (think Model A Phaeton - like a roadster with a back seat) with a roll bar that isn't ugly? I'm half tempted to use pop-ups off of a Z3...

  2. Two of my old roadsters with simple roll bars. Nuttin' special, but both were cool rides that are now in someone else's garage.

  3. Here's what we came up with for my little drag truck. My ace welding bud Charlie Spann did the honors.

Yup... Creighton Hunter's/Bob Smith's Santa Ana Special. Not technically a four-door anymore, but the aesthetics would still work roughly the same.

Ivo!!! Nice, addition. I really want to put some sort of roll bar on my roadster and Ivo's is perfect..... although I would chrome it!

Yeah man... that Ivo-style bar would fit your car to a "T." :D (...and THAT's how you do a traditionally-styled model T joke... very authentic... period-perfect, even!)

I don't know about that, but if I start any cool thread it might be because I am pretty new to Traditional Hot Rods and my thirst for any type of knowledge is red hot. I try not to take any of it for granted and get excited over the smallest of issues.

Pretty much if I have a question concerning my own build I start a thread that could benefit everyone while answering my own questions and concerns.

Yep, I'm new and I crave information too. You always seem to start threads that have content I'm looking for. This frame Is a lot like the one I'm building where the midplate is also the firewall. My engine is set way back too like the other thread you started. Do you have any more pics of the frame?

State of the art in 1964. That is me and my Dad at the circle track next door to the San Fernando Drag Strip.

This is the rollbar from the Doc Eiland roadster I owned for a short period in the mid 80s. The car was built in the late 50s and the pic shows the gussets on at the mounting points and if you look behind the seat you can see it also tied in to the pushbar.
