I ran across these in my files, thought I would share a little "back in the day" early 70's, I ran the retail counter at M &M and the Spiegel Bros manned the phones out back at United Speed Wholesalers this was their "Gasser" Willys.

USW was located at 2660 Albatross Way off El Camino and Hwy 80 just before the Marconi curve.M&M's machine shop closed in the 80's as well as the retail store,M&M and USW's founder and owner was Al Morris who passed away almost 2 years ago.He had a son who may have sold USW off to RPW(aka Tognotti's).Al got credited for helping SEMA establish computerized inventory control systems for Performance Warehouse distributors,a year after I started he got the computers, they were HUGE! in those days. From the old pic I posted M&M was in the front which was converted to more office space the machine shop was in back of USW and closed up to make way for more warehouse space and also after West Capitol Raceway closed the machine shop kinda faded as they built a lot of Sprint Car motors back in the day.I got into the uniform rental business and ran into some of the machinests at Rex Hutchisons.

Actually they were both stockers, nothing special at all,My '63 Nova SS which I don't have pics of(A-hole ex-wife) was the fun ride,I always wanted to build a 302 Chevy so with some of the left over goodies from some of the Sprint Cars we had in the machine shop I did. With the Moroso Trick springs it sat up like a "gasser" (I needed the ground clearance)with the Milodon pan,it was running a beefed PowerGlide, you could bring it up on the converter and put 2 feet of daylight under the front wheels no prob.I liked working in a Speed Shop but the pay sucked,it was like having candy in front of a kid and never letting them have any.:(

That is some cool history!i know what you mean about the candy store and not getting any,it must have been three times worse for you since you were actually at the speed shop.hell i only got to order and pass it on to someone but i still get it.i did work in one rod shop for awhile but it put a bad taste in my mouth because everyone there thought they were better than everybody else.dammit now im ramblin....................
