New from Deutschland (Germany)

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by blukangoo, May 10, 2009.

  1. Hi everybody,

I am not really a hot rodder or customizer myself. I like the old originals like my 68 Chevy C10.
I do like to help other people with thier projects like the 57 Buick Special I am working on now.
We have been looking for parts since January and have found just about everything we needed for her.
My last project was a 73 Camaro. We yanked the 350 out and replaced her with a GM Performance ZZ383. That thing kicks a$$ now.
We will be getting the bottle filled in June and we we finally see what she can do in a 1/8 Mile.

Sure am looking forward to adding my comments and reading all the others.

    Greetz from Germany
    Sean

P.S. I was born in Oxnard, California and grew up in Salem, Oregon and came to Germany with the US Army, met my wife here and decided to stay.

    Welcome from Wisconsin!

  5. Danke fürs Willkommen heißen! Habe nicht gedacht das so viele Deutsch können.
Thanks for the welcome! I didn´t think that too many could speak German. :)

    Servus und Guten Tag
That would be great to be able to spread something around like that over here.
Here are some pictures from a meet here in Nürnberg on the 1st of May.
All together there were 84 US Cars for the Roll-in 2009.

I was stationed in Augsburg form 1984 to 1986. I can't speak German but I can sure drink German ... Beer. Before I went to Germany I did not think I liked beer. There I learned to love beer.

    Guten Tag.

  7. I think that´s one of the first things you have to learn over here. How to order a beer and how to find the train station to get home afterward.
Ein Bier Bitte and wo ist der Bahnhof. :)

We are going to have to miss a US Car meet in Augsburg this year. We missed it last year too because it rained. Here are some pictures I got in 2006.

    Welcome, Brother...........
Spent 4 years there, near Bitburg,(Spangdahlem Air Base), 1985-1989........I miss it to this day!!!

    Bitte ein Bit!

  16. I was stationed there before I quit and stayed here. Pinder Barraks, where I worked is gone now. All there is to see now is the entrance.

Drink some Weizen for you? I think you need to catch up. ;-)

Bitte ein Bit!? Nee Danke! Es gibt besseres. They have beer over here thats a hell of alot better than Bit. But they have a slogan that sticks.

the Pinder Barracks....remember them from the outside with the little snack bar in front that sold sub sandwiches and fries....lived there from '77 to '89...then off to Luxembourg.

the Weizen...beats the ****** Heineken for sure...

last time I was in the area (2 years ago)..went to Ammerndorf just for the beer - that's the BEST!

    ...hell..i start missing it painfully...time for a roadtrip!

  18. Thanks for the welcome Ron.

Cosmos Pizza ist still out there in front and the pizza is great.

Ammerndorf!? Thats not too far from where I keep my truck and yes, the beer from the little towns are alot better than the industrial beers.

Let me know if you are ever down this way, maybe we can go and have a beer.

Have you ever had a Weizen Bock? It´l kill ya.

Cosmos Pizza - have not heard that name since I left (20 years!)...thanks for the memories:rolleyes:

Ammerdorf Dunkel or Kristall rules...try it. And for sure, when I come round I pm you...quite a lot going on where you are with clubs like the Haters....are you also on the flakes and primer forum?
And same for you btw...if you got plans for the Netherlands, let me know.

Weizen Bock...Bockbier is most of the times too sweet for me...but I like the punch of the alcohol:)

Isn't it fun driving the only pickup on the autobahn?

    Guten Tag!

  25. My Truck is younger than 58 so I wouldn´t be able to get in. It is too far for me to drive too.
We will be at Pullman City Saturday the 30th til Sunday the 31st.
    Bist du auch dort?
Meinst du Ingolstadt mit den Reinheitsgebot?

People look at her and some take pictures but I usually try to avoid the Autobahn. I don´t drive my truck faster than 65 MPH anyways so it always scares me that somebody wants to push my tailgate into the cab.

yeah right, I forgot. Only rods and kustom up to 1958. But still ,there´s a huge parking lot next to it, where all the other kool cars are.
Pullman City would be nice, but we´re invited on that weekend and we´re gonna take the 36 out for a ride.
Yeah, Ingolstadt rules ! Da gibt es gutes Bier !

I did a one week deployment to a British site in northern Germany in 1985. I had a great time with guys there. The site I was at you could not leave the builds at night. If you did you would be eaten by the biggest German Shepherds I ever saw.

A warning to all U.S. servicemen:Don't go drinking with the Brits, you'll end up with no money and probably in jail, but you will have a good time!
