I just came back from an autocad 2010 seminar where I received a really cool calendar with artwork by Ken Zylla. He depicts in his paintings alot of cool old scenes plucked from our creative memories. Many of them feature cars we love. Does anyone know him? I just discovered his art and I think it is really cool. Just thought I would see if anyone else digs it. -Jay
I do. I used to take painting lessons from Ken years ago. he did mostly landscapes then he started tapping into old memories and the cars. He really struck something special there.
No, Jay. Mr. Mechanical engineer who I hope is learning new stuff to build car parts with on autocad.
I am not a mechanical engineer. I did not learn anything new at the autocad seminar. I did have a huge yummy chocolate chip cookie though. I did get you a copy of the calendar though Paul.
Cool artwork, Jay. I never get anything like that at AutoCAD seminars, just walk away with a headache. Stay away from Revit as long as you can! The Architects and Structural guys are doing ok with it, but we just tried it for Mechanical and Electrical and ended up trashing our drawings and starting over on AutoCAD. Malcolm
Ken's paintings of the small town and cars are based on his memories growing up in Minnesota. He's in his 70's now I think. Lots if detail and story to them. My wife's old boss restores WW2 Vintage jeeps. She told him about the painting with the Jeep in it and he and his Jeep pals bought 4 prints.
They pumped us full of sugar to ward off the headaches. Being a structural guy- I have not heard any good things about Revit. My boss is 84 years old so I think we will stick with what he's doing for awhile. Seems to be working.
Anyone know where he hails from? I was shown some art VERY similar to that and was told he was local to me (around Newport, Maine). Just curious.
