Nice, but don't forget a drain hole or one on those nice factory cupholder rubber liners for those holes. I hate it when they get nasty.

Just noticed I have described a condom!

  4. Good idea. I told my wife that I wanted to put cup holders in my 55.1 truck. The kind that slide in when they're not in use. She just rolled her eyes and laughed. No vision i guess.

I made a portable wood coffee cup holder for my Acadian, so I will not spill my Tim Horton's coffee. The coffee is a Canadian instutution- I think its addictive!

I told my wife I wanted to put the sliding cupholders in the workbench. She laughed, and said, "You would! You just have to customize everything!" haha.

to the o/p--looks cool. better than the bottle openers on the dash boards and firewalls that i've seen.

I'm going to put them in my '62 Suburban. The truck currently has the "high hump" trans tunnel that came with the Granny 4-spd trans. I've got a later 4-speed in it, and the "low hump" trans tunnel and the flange for it that gets spot welded into the firewall (why they went with an individual flange I'll never know).
The part of the tunnel right over the trans bolts in and out--because of the X-frame on these trucks, the trans has to be pulled through the cabin, rather than drop out the bottom of the truck.
I'm going to swap in the low-hump set-up, and then modify the hi-hump tunnel to have two cup holders, an area to store change/cell phone, and will install a cigarette lighter (complete with the old chrome Deluxe knob to match the rest of the dash knobs) to use as a cell phone jack.
Boats have nice plastic cut holders with drain holes in the bottom, and a molded flange around the lip. Just hole-saw an opening and drop the black cup holder in. Makes it easy to clean, and makes it easy to look good.

You will need to ask for a lid,,because the only way your gonna get the drinks in that car is to turn them sideways!:D,,HRP

  14. Lotta funny stuff here, but they're handy as heck.

None in my 32 though, but will probably put some in the 31.

Strikes me that the cup holders are a little shallow.

One good smash on the loud pedal and flood city....

Interesting bit of cup-holder "history" for ya....
"German automakers once dismissed cup holders as an American fad that detracted from the sober business of driving. When forced to play along, they decided that a simple plastic hole wouldn't suffice. Thus the first German cup holders were complex marvels of engineering. They just could'nt keep a scalding cup of java out of your lap."

I was in Toronto once and asked for directions.....it went something like this. Go 2 blocks and turn right at Tim Hortons, then go past 3 Tim Hortons and turn left. When you see the next Tim Hortons turn right and you are there.

They have a good soup and sandwich lunch also and the doughnuts are great. We do not have Tim Hortons in Georgia and do not even know who Tim Horton is.

I like that. ** And the confluence of Don Quixote with duct tape suggests a broad and highly evolved design consciousness, something like Zen but with western roots.
Unbreakable, can be set anywhere except worst curved part of hump, heavy and wide enough to be untippable (until you use up most of roll), and is something you would carry anyway. Like many cl***ic rod parts, it has roots in combat aviation. It really is a good design discovery. But with a coffee cup in that socket, you now need a cup holder to keep your WD-40 can from rolling around and losing its little tube...Ay!

**This refers to the duct tape post, not the jockstrap post, dammit.

The Stromberg technology is mature and readily available. We are talking leading edge design here...we have carburetors, but the world still lacks a good hotrod cupholder.
If only Navarro had lived a bit longer...

  27. Fwiw - our friends at Wally World sell plastic cup holder consoles in the auto section.

I got the cheapest and smallest - about $3. - for my Ranger.

Sits on the floor, works fine.

Usually carries a bottle or two of water which is a necessity here in the Dez . . . even for short trips....

On of many things I miss from Buffalo. I have my brother bring me down some Timmy Ho's when he visits but it's not the same.
