Here's one. Could use a few tweaks, but you get the idea.

I second the "monkey playing the cymbals" idea. They're kinda creepy lookin! The monkey could have his arms spread out wide so there's a cymbal on each side of the plate and he could be looking over the top of the plate w/ them crazy eyes and teeth!! Simple but cool.

How can anyone compete with this?! :D

What size is that and where did you find it?

This image would be kind of cool and quirky if you could incorporate that into a Hot rod theme. They were all pretty silly if they were not a club intended for lakes racing.

Are you looking for a traditional looking plaque or something updated?

  7. Huh. I didn't realize that Papyrus had achieved the same lofty status as Comic Sans. When did that happen?

It's a personal battle between me and the typeface. I have pledged to never use this font once in my professional career. Everywhere you look you see this font and it's almost always accompanied by cheap and bad design. Not that I am an art snob or really consider myself a professional but I hate that people spend hard earned money on ad design and the designer takes the easy way out by picking this horrid distressed font. It's probably just me though.

It is definitely not you. I assure you it's a feeling shared amongst everyone throughout the design community. We have signed doctrines on the wall in our agency stating we will never use Papyrus.

Well, I suck at climbing ladders:)p), and now apparently I'm some sort of Outlaw Font Bastard to boot...hmm, I should feel bad about that, but I don't:D

...and hey, while we're at it, "cheap design" Mr. James? I'll have you know I did that in 5 minutes while watching Handy Manny on Nick Jr! Cheap design my ass, Mr. Lowpart thought it was pretty hot!

it would be cool to have the plate hanging by it's arm, like this suggests.

You must be younger than 50. Google Barrel of Monkeys, a popular '50's toy.

I'd either do the THREE monkeys "See no Evil, Hear No EVIL, Speak No EVIL" above the word Primates or maybe a side view of an Ape running/charging.... Could be a very cool plate.

I'm a little late coming to this thread but attached is my idea. It's a rough sketch, your graphics person could straighten it out.

Just the faces and upper torso, then add a fourth manic monkey with an evil smile holding a steering wheel and wearing a fez!
