The coupe was at Convair field, Aug "59", the 2dr Vargo sometime in "60'. I wish I had either one of them back now.
Thanks for the info. I believe the club plaque on the car says "Tappets" in one of my early images. I am familiar with Norm Wallace roadster as I worked with his son . His son sold me all of Norm hot rod magazines but alas there was nothing left as he has sold/traded the roadster for small plane. The nerf bars DO look similar. I have other early images on my ALBUM photos
I love the east coast look. Cool Cars Square Roll Bars has been in my library for a few years. I saw Pete Flavin's 33 on here but I really liked his prior 30 Chevy Coupe. Nailhead, channeled, truck grille... I have the Jan. '02 Street Rodder it was featured in but no scanner and can't find a picture of it.
Snapped this one at the Hot Rod Fallout in '07. I met the owner on here, i believe it was his dads (?) but unfortunately i forgot the HAMB name. D'oh! sorry! Awesome car. Wish i had my good camera to take better shots of it.
Pete Flavin that name sound familiar . I think he built this car i owned a couple of years ago ? Lived close to Worcester MA ? It had an AltarBoys plaque?
Speaking of the Cam Snappers ..some years back I had a car built by one of the members in 1959 . Drove it for almost 6 years with the same 57 Ols J2 hydromatic. Currently part of the Clark Cram collection Sanford ME
bringin it back up now that we got her finished...almost...East coast is what im shootin for...hopefully it worked... T. Hilton
Glad to find this thread. Being from northeast Massachusetts, born in '64 I was attending my first car shows from about '75 or so. The car that has always stood out was what I believe was the Wallace roadster with the S.C.O.T. blown flathead, maroon, pinstriped and named "Big Boy's Toy". Am I right on that? The car was always my favorite. My father ran a flattie in his junkyard in a '48 boom truck, and we always had tons of old cars. At the age of 15 or so, I started buying up old speed parts. You could get a set of finned heads or 2X2 or 2X3 manifolds for $5-$20 all day long. At one time I had some cool stuff, a Kong ignition, Highland Springfield quickie, etc. I had a huge collection which I sold off as the retro stuff came back in vogue. Wish I hung on a few more years, the prices are outrageous now comparatively! Ultimately I bought a '51 Chrysler Hemi, Weiand 4X97 with a '37 Packard toploader and a '57 Olds rear that I was going to stuff into my '36 5w. Life got in the way, and I had to let it go, but I am still hoping to bring another trad rod to the East Coast someday!
miller, that norm wallace roadster still gets around. it's owned by larry hook now. he's a painter and 'striper. lives in RI i think. you would almost certainly see it at the ty-rods reunion or the gathering of the faithful.
Whitey buddy... this sedan is way cool, what is the deal? So you posted it before, but was to busy to read through the thread. I love it! Get your ass up to NJ for a visit man!
Yes...that does look like the same car built (originally as a modified style) by Pete about 4 or 5 years ago. It looks a little more refined in these more recent pictures. Peter and the rest of the Alter Boys are a very talented bunch of young hot rodders. They are deep into traditional as anyone I've ever known. You have to meet them, bunch of good people!
I love this thread, here is my '34...going to finish it late 50's style...mabe dark blue paint...Cool cars, Square roll bars style!!!
I remember this car in Peoria Illinois at a indoor show there in about 62/63 (I should have pictures of it somewhere I will see if I can find them). and then I seen it for sale on ebay a couple years ago I often wondered what happened to it. Is this it now?
No,,,,that bottom coupe belongs to us....fresh build that we started last september....finished in march...i always did dig that coupe above it though... T. Hilton
