I think the owner was from the Austin area, they used the top of the lift-gate for the back window.

I wonder how many times he has heard "Wow, I haven't seen one of them in years!", or "My dad bought one new in '59 just like that!"

I like it, looks to be very well done. 59's don't get the respect they deserve.

Our club did a small local show yesterday and the SouthEastern Chapter of the International Edsel Club brought 10 or 11 vehicles out for display. Included in that mix was these two gems.

Anyone seen that red and white one here in Austin? will the owner, builder, please stand up and be recognized! that is one fine lookin ride..I couldn't tell if the front door had been lengthened or if was still four-door size..Lets see, there is a 59 wagon up in Temple(with a 59 Chevy sitting on top of it) or anyone have a 58-59 Ranchero they want to sell? I have an Edsel frontend just sitting around..then I'll need those groovy 58 tailights...

Nice work, strange idea. For such a rare car, who would have thought there would be so many "Edcheros"? The Volvo guys have the same obsesion, don't understand it there either, but I can recognize the skills.

Folks, this is my Edchero. I cannot claim to have done the bodywork. It has been done for some time, a body shop in Bel Air MD took a 4 door 9 p***enger 59 Edsel wagon, welded up the rear doors, cut the top and moved the rear window up. The bed sides and floor is formed out of sheet metal. All of the mechanics were wore out when I bought it. The original 332 FE and Edsel-matic was trashed and a warmed over 352 FE FMX replaced it. Had the car for about 4 years. Draws a crowd....<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
